Interesting, congrats. New Ugin just not really making the cut any more?

    Thanks.
The new ugin is a beautiful card, but it didn't impressive me.

I think ugin old is best in this deck

Re: [Primer] Eldrazi Post – Colorless Eldrazi Ramp

I can't find the Big Eldrazi thread anymore so I post here.

Took down a 20-men tournament yesterday with updated version of Big Eldrazi.
    Here's the list :

    4 Cloudpost
    4 Glimmerpost
    4 Ancient Tomb
    4 City of Traitors
    3 Vesuva
    2 Thespian Stage
    2 Eye of Ugin
    2 Blast Zone
    1 Karakas

    4 Chalice of the Void
    4 Grim Monolith
    4 Thran Dynamo
    3 Trinisphere
    2 Voltaic Key

    4 Thought-Knot Seer
    2 Ulamog, The Ceaseless Hunger
    1 Kozilek, The Great Distortion
    1 Walking Ballista

    3 Karn, The great Creator
    3 Ugin, The Ineffable
    3 Ugin, The Spirit Dragon

SB : Mycosynth Lattice, Trinisphere, Ratchet Bomb, Spellskite, Walking Ballista, 3 Ensnaring Bridge, 2 Sorcerous Syglass, 4 Leyline of the void, Warping Wail

Beat UR Delver, UR Pteramander, Eldrazi Post and Death and Taxes in the first four rounds while been crushed by UW Stoneblade in the last round.
Semi final was a rematch versus Death and Taxes, and beat this time Stoneblade in final.

Deck felt busted all day long. Being able to steal games while mulliganing to 5 was amazing.
New Ugin is underrated. Card advantage, costs reducer and problem solver in one card that sticks is huge.
New Karn is a 10 mana combo that wins on the spot if unanswered. Was not that much impressed by the toolbox aspect so far but the sample is too light to make conclusions.
Blast Zone is nice, removed Delvers and Vials. Wish I had more space for a third one but doesn't suit well with the ramp strategy.

I dodged some bad match ups to be fair, there was some Burn decks and Omnitell around.

The player on Eldrazi Post finished 5th and has done well in big events with the deck.
Kinda like the idea of still being an underdog, but the deck is stupidly solid, only folds to Wastlock decks... and Back to Basics.

Re: [Primer] Eldrazi Post – Colorless Eldrazi Ramp

    Thx Caprino :)

The guy who usually wins our local tournaments is on Infect, so it was mainly for that (and some corner cases vs Burn) but this is a really flex slot.
Warping Wail is the natural fit if I went to a bigger tournament (going up to 2 so).

I see you play 2x key, what do you think 4 Grim monolith 3 dynamo 2 basalt 3 key main deck, i think basalt is good card for mana ramp.
My side in this moment is 4 leyline 4 ensnaring (I love 3x side in vs delver, sneak, reanimator ecc.. And 1x in the side for wish karn) 1 tormod 1 ratchet bomb 1 spyglass 1 lattice, 1 ballista, 2 warping.
    Do you like kozilek 2.0?

  12. #312

Re: [Primer] Eldrazi Post – Colorless Eldrazi Ramp

The problem with key is that it doesn't do anything alone, so I tend to play the less I can.
I hate when the deck goes turbo mana into nothing while we die to Delver beats.

But you're certainly right on Basalt, switching one Dynamo for it is the right choice.

Yes sometimes you need to fetch Kozilek, to grab some Glimmerpost when you're low on life for example, and drawing 7 when you have Ugin Ineffable in play is huge.
I finally cut Emrakul V2, notably cause I don't play All is Dust anymore, and because she really shines versus control, but we beat control anyway.

I'm not sold on 4 Ensnaring Bridge but that's my take on the deck, I may be wrong again. 3 is fine and it makes space for more toolbox elements or a 2nd Sorcerous Syglass, a card we still need cause Wasteland is the enemy.
But your deck seems consistent, you're more focused on mana rocks (3 keys, 9 rocks) so you can dodge more easily Wasteland, and probably don't need 2 Spyglass.

Re: [Primer] Eldrazi Post – Colorless Eldrazi Ramp

They just spoiled an upgraded Voltaic Key.

    Manifold Key 1
1: Tap: Untap another target artifact
3: Tap: Target creature can't be blocked this turn.

    How essential is Chalice?

I'm wondering if it's worth it to play 10-12 Monoliths, 8 Voltaic Key, a couple of Candelabra of Tawnos to pair with Cloudpost and just aim to hardcast massive Eldrazi, Ballistas and Ugins every game. KGC can tutor the pieces out as well.

Seems like it adds too much air. Chalice of the Void is too essential. I feel the 3 Voltaic Keys most decks run is enough and I don't really think the unblockable ability means jack shit. Once I have an Eldrazi or huge Walking Ballista they're pretty much screwed already. Also, that art is ugly.

I cut down to 3 Keys in my list anyway. And yeah, the second ability is somewhat worthless except in some corner cases when you are attacking ftw with ulamog or something.

I think what we really need is another Grim Monolith. Thran Dynamo and Basalt Monolith are decent but they ain't Grim Monolith. If we could play 8 Grim Monoliths instead, then we'd really be talking.

This might actually be worth trying as a draw engine in this deck, however.

Just thought I post here to keep the discussion running. I switched from MUD to this archetype a few months ago and try to keep up in this wasteland heavy meta. There was a list that did well in the last legacy challenge from Bobsbread with the following list:

    Planeswalker (7)
    3 Karn, the Great Creator
    2 Ugin, the Ineffable
    2 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon

    Creature (7)
    4 Thought-Knot Seer
    2 Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
    1 Walking Ballista

    Sorcery (2)

    2 All Is Dust

    Artifact (18)

    4 Chalice of the Void
    4 Grim Monolith
    2 Manifold Key
    3 Sorcerous Spyglass
    3 Thran Dynamo
    2 Trinisphere

    Land (26)

    4 Ancient Tomb
    1 Blast Zone
    3 City of Traitors
    4 Cloudpost
    3 Eldrazi Temple
    1 Eye of Ugin
    4 Glimmerpost
    1 Karakas
    1 Thespian's Stage
    4 Vesuva

    60 Cards

    Sideboard (15)
    1 Walking Ballista
    1 Trinisphere
    1 Ensnaring Bridge
    4 Leyline of the Void
    1 Liquimetal Coating
    1 Mycosynth Lattice
    1 Oblivion Stone
    1 Ratchet Bomb
    1 Tormod's Crypt
    2 Warping Wail
    1 Wurmcoil Engine

The list looks solid and is pretty much what I am running for the past few weeks. The deck has not the best matchup against TurboDepths and its variants, but can keep up with the rest of the field with the right hand :)

It leans a little bit heavier on the Eldrazi plan with 2x All is Dust and 2x Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, which is heavier on the endgame cards. And here is a point I want to discuss. The added Eldrazi Temple and Eye of Ugin enable a more consistent turn2 and turn3 Thought Knot Seer, to enable early game disruption added ontop of the hate pieces of Chalice, Trinisphere and Spyglasses.

Is it still the best option to keep more of these late game cards (Ulamog, All is Dust), because in a meta of resource denial or early game combo, it is pretty hard to even get there? Or should we keep the count high enough to keep greedy ramp heavy hands with minor disruption and count on the power of top decks. What to add instead? Maybe the 4th Karn or Mystic Forge?

Should we try to add at least a single Waste to remidy setbacks with Assassin's Trophy or keep basics against Back to Basic? I am currently running 2 Wastes, but might try to add in more Eldrazi Temples instead of a Waste.

Currently I want to experiment with some new cards:

Golos, Tireless Pilgrim: Combined with a single land slot with [[Cascading Cateract]] he is a decent blocker and threatens to take over the game by himself, if you have the mana for his activations, which is 8 mana with cateract. Could be a too cute for Legacy cards, but I want to get him in some matches to see if I am happy about drawing him or not. If we have 8 Mana the next turn, we could also always play [[All is Dust]], which might solve more problems, because we dont have to wait a turn cycle. The upside of Cateracts is the indestructability, but also Cateracts is probably worse than another Eldrazi Temple.

Stonecoil Serpent: A fine sideboard card. It can block Delver and some other nasty flyers, has protection from multicolored (Assassin's Trophy, T3feri, Abrupt Decay, KCommand, Knight of Reliquary) and tramples over small blockers to remove planeswalkers or get the monarch. It can buy us a turn against Depths by blocking Marit Lage. With W&6 in the meta, the amount of x/1 creatures is low and it might replace a ballista (maybe?).

Mystic Forge: Value engine. It allows us to draw lands when we need them and find answers when it is on the field. It won me a few matches by simply letting me play 3-4 spells a turn and removing the lands out of the way. I want at least one of it somewhere in my list, two might be too much.

If you want to check out my current "spicy" additions to the deck: https://archidekt.com/decks/94856#Brown_Walkers

    Edit:

Thinking about it I want to know what configuration makes more sense:
    Configuration (1)
    Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
    Eye of Ugin
    Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
    All is Dust

    Configuration (2)
    Golos, Tireless Pilgrim
    Cascading Cateracts
    Dark Depths
    Mystic Forge

The (1) configuration focusses on the Eldrazi gameplan and has a lot of Turn2 TKS possibilities with the Sol Lands, Eldrazi Temple or Eye of Ugin + Urborg. Eye also enables late game tutor options. The second configuration might not have the TKS explosiveness but the endgame plan with Golos, bounce with Karakas or activate with cateracts or make Dark Depth token gives us another out.

Re: [Primer] Eldrazi Post – Colorless Eldrazi Ramp

hi, I too using bob's list, but I made some adjustment.

    -3 tran dynamo
    +4 candelabra of tawnos

chalice will not be suitable, but...its like..if chalice is in my hand 1st, I will cast chalice. if candle is first, I will cast chalice. if both are in my hand I will cast chalice first...but the candles synergy with this deck is really awesome.

may be I put 1 in SB.

I am thinking of putting 1 tabernacle in , but its kind of hard because of no land tutor, unless I put in 4 expedition map.

tempting....yes chalice will be a problem..but...LOL...I love my candles and taber….

    any advise?

Re: [Primer] Eldrazi Post – Colorless Eldrazi Ramp

Found a deck with candles but no chalice, https://www.hareruyamtg.com/en/deck/257011/show/

Will throw in a copy of tabernacle. 61 cards.

    ok, did some adjustment:
    -1 karn the great creator
-1 ugin , the spirit dragon
-2 , karn, scion of urza

    +2 Sorcerous Spyglass
    +1 tabernacle
    +1 dark depths
    +1 all is dust

Re: [Primer] Eldrazi Post – Colorless Eldrazi Ramp

Eldrazi Post got 2nd in the Legacy Challenge this past Sunday. Direct link here.

    Planeswalker (2)
    2 Ugin, the Ineffable
    Creature (20)
    3 Endbringer
    1 Kozilek, the Great Distortion
    3 Matter Reshaper
    4 Reality Smasher
    4 Thought-Knot Seer
    2 Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
    3 Walking Ballista

    Sorcery (2)
    2 All Is Dust

    Artifact (10)
    4 Chalice of the Void
    4 Grim Monolith
    2 Trinisphere

    Land (26)
    4 Ancient Tomb
    2 City of Traitors
    4 Cloudpost
    4 Eldrazi Temple
    3 Eye of Ugin
    4 Glimmerpost
    2 Karakas
    3 Vesuva

    60 Cards

    Sideboard (15)
    1 Trinisphere
    1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
    4 Leyline of the Void
    2 Ratchet Bomb
    3 Sorcerous Spyglass
    4 Thorn of Amethyst

I tested the list out a bit yesterday with some friends. It is much cleaner and doesn't have as many bad top decks. I might drop an Eye of Ugin for a Blast Zone, but otherwise, it is quite solid. The Reality Smashers and Matter Reshapers make this deck feel much more just like Eldrazi Aggro but with a significantly better top-end. If you play Modern, it's very similar to Eldrazi Tron in the makeup of the deck.
