    Re: Bedlam Burn

I'll have to do some more testing with the looting, but they have generally been good. they allow 4 revelers to be played and the deck always wants to draw it.

the deck struggles with aggro and goyf in general. will have to find some way to deal with it. Maybe black for spot removal.

Why not kiln fiend in addition to reveler?

isn't UR Delver strictly better than this?

It counters and cantrips. It plays Delver and let us play all the bombs in this deck (Reveler, PoP, Eidolon and Fireblast).

Overall it's more controllish nature is the perfect shell for Young Pyromancer..

The problem is that "UR Delver" and "strictly better" don't go hand in hand. UR Delver's strategy is the same = attacking/bolting its way to opp's 0 life. Yet, Burn has more bolt effects, thus follows the strategy better.
The counter suite is neglectable since it is the lowest in the format and once UR Delver is deprived of their clock, it becomes hard for them to play a fruitful late game. Burn just todecks gas/mountains in comparison to UR Delver's semi-gas/lands/non-clock, non-dmg spells. So, Reveler provides some draw engine to a deck that follows mtg's purest strategy.
Delver also appears to be the worst creature in UR lists.

hiya cabal, i'll be living in berlin by the end of this week. just a heads up.

regarding isn't deck x just better?

well i think the answer to that is that there are weaknesses and advantages for each of them.

the pros of playing mono red are:

more stable manabase (who cares about turn 1 blood moon, or multiple wasteland draws)
more direct and to the point, less time fumbling around.
counters might save you in some games, and in others it's not helpful.

i also don't believe eidolon is in the maindeck of UR delver. that card is very strong and shouldn't be underestimated.

i'm glad that he came to relatively the same conclusion. 4 manamorphose, 3 probe even with eidolon in the maindeck. i think this deck is on to something. deflecting palm could also be great. this deck is weak to the aggro decks, and that might help. will require testing if it will play a 2nd color.

    Re: Bedlam Burn

have a revision of the list, something that might make the deck strong enough to not be compared with UR delver.

    4 gitaxian probe
    4 manamorphose
    4 lightning bolt
    4 chain lightning
    3 liliana of the veil
    2 volcanic fallout
    3 exquisite firecraft
    2 fireblast
    4 cabal therapy
    1 rift bolt
4 eidolon of the great revel
    4 bedlam reveler
    10 mountain
    3 badlands
    4 scalding tarn
    4 bloodstained mire

    Re: Bedlam Burn

new update: this list has been working pretty good so far.

    4 gitaxian probe
    3 manamorphose
    4 lightning bolt
    4 chain lightning
    1 volcanic fallout
    3 exquisite firecraft
    3 fireblast
    4 cabal therapy
    3 rift bolt
    4 monastery swiftspear
4 eidolon of the great revel
    4 bedlam reveler
    10 mountain
    2 badlands
    4 scalding tarn
    4 bloodstained mire

could also consider -1 manamorphose +1 goblin guide just to have an extra 1 drop. i suppose grim lavamancer could be here as well.
