The only reason I'm happy to have fetches in mono is if I'm losing to Jace the Mind Sculptor, but that's another problem entirely, and it doesn't justify their inclusion.

If I edit a post without an explanation, I am just correcting typos and / or formatting.

Are Gobbos back for the first time since ~2012/2013? Eight tournaments since the banned list update, and Goblins top 8'ed half of them, with a total of five top 8s.

    Thanks for that post.

We've had 3 things going for us so far imo

    deathrite ban
    trashmaster
    chainwhirler

It is great to see that reanimator is way below what was expected too. I thought that it was supposed to be the top deck.

A first level top deck deck never does well after a week or two. Happened to Elves after Top Ban as well.

UB reanimator is my main deck and I'm avoiding playing it until the whole graveyard hate paranoia starts to cool down.

    Cheers!

I hope you guys continue to do well with the deck. Besides the fact that I have a soft spot for Goblins, it's good to see a deck winning that's 1/4 the price of most top Legacy decks.

I think in an open meta like this, we're going to see more Pithing needles. I think we're also going to see a lot needles coming down and naming trashmaster. Against some of the other artifact heavy decks (DnT in particular) this could cause some issues. If it's a revoker it's fine since it can be killed off, but a needle naming Trashmaster is a whole nother issue. It's already come up in testing, people are starting to catch on to trashmaster. Just giving everyone an FYI, BOLO (be on the lookout) about this.

All I think this really means is that a green splash with a Tin Street Hooligan main is still necessary and correct, right? Thanks for the heads up.

Personally I never liked the green splash, but yea you get the point. I may be going doing 1/1 split of trashmaster/tuktuk in sb. Tuktuk would also make me want to make space for Kiki again, but I don't know we'll see if needle gains any traction...most people are naming vial/sharpshooter/gempalm/krenko, but stoneforge equipment decks that rely on stuff like jitte/sword of fire and ice to break a stalled game open before we do might be smarter for them to name Trashmaster, and I honestly think it is.

Started slinging gobos again along with everybody else and few observations - Chainwhirler and trashmaster really tip the scales in our favor against D&T, but not to rain on everyone’s parade here but our answers to combo are still pretty terrible. (Chalice at 0, Thorn turn 2, mindbreak trap). We are still missing that thalia goblin to be a more complete deck. I’m still getting rolled by combo just like in 2014.

I run 4 Thoughtseize and 4 Cabal Therapy in my sideboard along with 2 Surgical Extraction.

My .02 re: sideboard for mono-Red:

    3 Chalice of the Void
    2 Mindbreak Trap
    3 Relic of Progenitus
    1 Goblin Trashmaster
    3 Pyrokinesis
    1 Faerie Macabre
    2 Blood Moon

I think the biggest point of contention is which GY hate to run. Surgical/Leyline are much better vs BR Reanimator than Relic but Relic is much better against Canadian Thresh. Chalice and Trap are for Storm and are zero mana ways to interact so you can hopefully drop a Lackey and do your best. Moon for Post and Lands. PK for for decks with dorks. Trashman for artifacts and also if you might see Plague effects again. This is the SB I would run in an unknown meta.

I’ve never been a fan of pyrokinesis, especially with chainwhirler and sharpshooter as options.

Pyrokinesis is there to bridge the gap in the early turns till Sharphooter becomes active which can often be a turn to slow. It's mostly just there for Elves.

If it’s an unknown meta, not sure why you want 3 copies of a card for elves which isn’t seeing nearly as much play post DRS. People have found success with it, but I’ve just never been a fan of that card or the chrome mox builds.

Andrea mengucci has a video up with a funky list (4 tarfires 4 war Marshall’s 0 Piledriver...??) but he’s getting results with the deck online. I still think this just shows how much wiggle room there is in lists and variance after the core.

Hey everyone, just wanted to check in and say hi! With the banning of Deathrite Shaman, I figured since I already had vials, ports, caverns and Badlands from various decks over the years, I'd pick up the parts for our adorable little red men. Can't wait to jam a few games later this week at my LGS for the first time. :)

Just sharing my last league here. Sound is horrible, and I make a bunch of mistakes, some because of mol, some because I'm silly. Hoping to post a 5-0 next time =D

    Re: [Deck] Vial Goblins

Top8'd a Legacy League in my city this weekend.

I played a Monored classic list with 1 Trashmaster main.

    1-2 vs Eldrazi Post
He wins G1 with double TKS starting from turn 2 into Smasher turn 4.
G2 I get to Wasteland and Port him and win with my dudes
G3 I made the mistake of not Wastelanding him after he went T1 Eye of Ugin go. I opted to play my Vial first, but should have went with Waste and Vial on T2.

    2-1 vs UW Standstill
G1 I played into his standstills but won anyway. He drew 3 cards with Standstill and I drew 3 with Ringleader. That's ok with me.
G2 He gets to Terminus me and plays a lot of Plows. He was at a low life total and lands Elspeth, Sun's Champion. Can't come back from that.
    G3 I won really fast

    2-0 vs Food Chain Goblins
This match was strange. He opens with Lackey and I had Prospector. He doesn't want to trade, plays Tomb and Sharpshooter. I sac Prospector to play Warchief on defense. Trade Warchief for his Lackey on his attack, then I play Piledriver. Game goes like this til I waste his Tomb and start Gempalming his creatures to death.
G2 was kinda the same, but he connects with Lackey on his turn 2 and plays Trashmaster. I go down to 1 life chumping with War Marshals until I draw a Pyrokinesis to clear his board and turn the game.

    2-1 vs Infect
G1 won after he goes all in on a nexus and I Vial Stingscourger
    G2 he gets me fast
G3 he drew only creatures and cantrips/counters, no pump spells. I killed a lot of his dudes and kept blockers for the green elf. At some point, I figured I had to win on that turn since he had both Blighted and Inkmoth and 5 cards on hand, so I Vial for Warchief, played Matron to find Piledriver, then played Piledriver and War Marshal and attacked for more than he could take.

    2-1 vs Miracles
    G1 Lackey connects, Lackey wins.
G2 Miracles does Miracles things and Mentor is stupid
G3 I don't remember much, but I won without trouble

    ID with BG Depths

    Top8 was:
    1- Dredge
    2- Merfolk
    3- Infect
    4- Miracles
    5- BG Depths
    6- Esper Blade
    7- Goblins (me)
    8- Elves

    2-0 vs Merfolk
G1 we both mull to 5 and I keep 4 lands and Trashmaster. I play T2 War Marshal, T3 Matron, T4 Ringleader, T5 Trashmaster. He never drew his 2nd land
G2 he starts with Vial and I have Lackey. He plays Silvergil, which I Pyroblast on my turn. Attack with Lackey, he Vials Cursecatcher, which I Pyrokinesis before blocks. Lackey connects and Ringleader follows. This game Trashmaster was insane. Got to play him and Siege Gang on the field, taking out his Vial and 2 Smuggler's Copter.

    1-2 vs Miracles
    G1 won easy
G2 goes longer and I lose to a pair of Mentors after getting him low on life.
G3 he has Chill and despite that I get him to 5 life. I then proceed to draw a lot of lands when he was tottaly out of stuff and that takes me out of the game, as he later finds Mentors and cantrips. I try to make a comeback with 5 mana Matron into 5 mana Chainwhirler taking out all his tokens and Snapcasters, but he still had cantrips to make more tokens.

Then Miracles lost to Elves on the finals.

No, I have never seen such a list put up results. Jitte has only seen play as a sideboard card, and that was YEARS ago (back when you could play a Jitte to kill a Jitte). I think you'll find that Jitte is a little slow, undrawable, and a Win-More card against creature decks which we're already strong against.
