Daze is great in a deck that's built to drop a high-impact 3-drop on turn2.
The seven cardinal sins of Legacy:
1. Discuss the unbanning ofLand TaxEarthcraft.
2. Argue that banning Force of Will would make the format healthier.
3. Play Brainstorm without Fetchlands.
4. Stifle Standstill.
5. Think that Gaea's Blessing will make you Solidarity-proof.
6. Pass priority after playing Infernal Tutor.
7. Fail to playtest against Nourishing Lich (coZ iT wIlL gEt U!).
Just seems kind of low impact beyond turn 2, but I'm definitely biased by drawing Daze on turn 6 and have it do nothing too many times.
Good point. I think what Duke's list does well with 8 mana dorks is not get bottled up on mana as much as "traditional" BUG decks. I've played builds that were similar in principle and often I just couldn't play out everything efficiently enough. This is one of the thing that makes me leery of Daze: you really want your lands in play. But I guess 8 mana-men can help with this, but you still have three 4-drops...
Of course, I think several lists lately have generally disproven that Daze isn't playable outside of Tempo, but it still seems kind of odd to me.

Regarding duke's dazes: he has been working them in to his midrange bug builds ever since decay and shaman were printed. He has also been an advocate of Noble Hierarch for a long time, even after the great x/1 exodus that occured after the printing of TNN (the splash hate was real, just ask any mother of runes player). I think the meta has stricken a nice balance where some older tech can come back. For example, less and less people on shardless at the moment, perhaps because of the popularity of reanimator or sneak, or maybe recent developments with aluren. This gives some other midrange decks breathing room. Wouldn't be surprised if deathblade or uwr delver made small comebacks. Also eldrazi at an all time low is interesting.
Columbus 2016 was the event of Legacy Eldrazi, at least that's how I would remember it.
Louisville 2017 was the event of Legacy BUG color decks. Let it be BUG Delver, Shardless BUG, Aluren BUG, TNN-Leovold-BUG.
