Hello. Just joined. Hope it's fun here.
1) what/who would be a good commander for a myr deck? I'd like to play all 5 colors but if need be I can chop it up some I guess.
2) How do you pronounce "Ugin"? Is it ew jin or you jin
Thanks for your help. It's greatly appreciated!
Me too!
I've always said Ooo-ghin (with a hard 'g'), but I'm no expert in millennium old dragon-language...
I did two Gatherer searches (one for 'creature type - Myr', the other for 'text - Myr') and was surprised at how little support Myr actually has...
I don't know that 5-color is definitely where you want to be. You want to be in White, at a minimum, but a huge fraction of the deck is going to be colorless/artifact. You'll probably want to supplement the actual Myr with stuff like:
- Metallic Mimic
- Brass Herald
- Adaptive Automaton
Changelings are another option, and Mirror Entity seems pretty good.
My guess is that / or Esper will produce a stronger deck than going full-on five color.
You can also get cute if you want and use stuff like Myriad Landscape.
I often joke that my Arcum Dagsson deck is myr tribal (he's probably the best commander with an ability revolving around artifact creatures)
Memnarch created the Myrs in Mirrodin's story so he would at least make sense as a commander flavor-wise
Both of these are mono-blue though, I don't know that theres a 5-color commander that has any particular Myr combos
Maybe Reaper King would be okay because Scarecrows are also artifact creatures and then your Myrs can combo with things like Scarecrone
I have only ever heard Ugin pronounced ew-gin with a hard G (G as in 'Golf' not G as in 'Genesis').
I'm having fun, are you having fun?
Well, there's no legendary myr...so maybe Breya, Etherium Shaper? Green doesn't really bring much to the table for this sort of deck anyway, so losing access to it probably isn't a big deal. There's also Sydri, Galvanic Genius, which can give your myr deathtouch.
If it were me, I'd have Breya at the helm and Sydri in the 99, but you do you.
Around here it's pronounced Eugene.
What set is Ramos, Dragon Engine going to be in?
Flavor wise I like Memnarch tbh. I did Arcum Dagson too but people got a little more on edge with him at the table.
