I'm trying to find a cheaper card, or cards, to use instead of IP. IP cost around $100.00

How much alike are you looking for?

There's In the Eye of Chaos for Instants.

Well... your problem is part of why Invoke Prejudice costs $100. It's a reserved list card that has a unique ability.
    I mean, there's Nether Void, but that's $300...

The closest I could find is Brand of Ill Omen.

Check out Overburden. It sorta does the job. If you can make a deck with this as an engine, I would love to see it.

If a casual, raw list is ok, then see below. I tend to play Mana Breach in lieu of Overburden because of the universality of effect, but there's a singleton Overburden in there :)

I think the biggest thing is the deep seeded emotional understanding that the right play is the right play regardless of outcomes. The ability to make a decision 5 straight times, lose 5 times because of it, and still make it the 6th time if it's the right play. - Jon Finkel

Isn't Brand of Ill Omen a two card combo with Braid of Fire? Not that it's necessarily good, it just seems interesting. Red has some really solid ritual effects that can power these out early.

EDIT: Aether Flash has some redundancy potential as well.

EDIT #2: Are you thinking of doing something with Solemnity? Modern already has a w/r prison style deck that goes with a blood moon/ghostly prison theme. Solemnity alongside Brand of Ill Omen seems quite good actually. Braid of Fire becomes much worse with Solemnity however.

Is this card's price so high solely because of the "controversial" art?

It does have an incredibly unique effect that is attractive to MTG klans, so not entirely

It spiked during Theros when devotion was a thing.
