It's just a very rough idea, but it seems interesting enough:
Basalt Monolith
Grim Monolith
Power Artifact
Wake Thrasher
Walking Ballista
Wake Thrasher + Basalt Monolith generates an infinite/infinite beater.
Power Artifact + a Monolith generates infinite mana. It also makes Grim Monolith combo with Wake Thrasher.
The infinite mana can be used to either blow up everything with Ballista or draw your deck with Staff of Domination and then blow up everything.
Here's a first, shitty attempt what I'm thinking about:
// 60 Maindeck
// 16 Artifact
4 Basalt Monolith
4 Grim Monolith
4 Chalice of the Void
3 Chrome Mox
1 Staff of Domination
// 16 Creature
4 Wake Thrasher
4 Trophy Mage
4 Walking Ballista
4 Trinket Mage
// 4 Enchantment
4 Power Artifact
// 4 Instant
4 Force of Will
// 20 Land
4 Ancient Tomb
3 City of Traitors
1 Inventors' Fair
1 Academy Ruins
10 Island
1 Seat of the Synod
In goldfishing so far, it seems like is somewhat the bottleneck of the deck (who would have thought?). Trophy Mage also lacks a toolbox like CoW and equipment, but at the very least it can fetch Staff of Domination as combo piece. Maybe Eye of Ramos solves the problem?
Just some ideas, I've found when thinking about playing Whir of Invention in a stompy shell :
Spreading Seas
Elsewhere Flask
Saprazzan Skerry
for Whir is just not feasible. The optimal case would be something that could convert colorless mana into blue mana to go off immediately. Eye of Ramos is probably the closest thing, but then you lack 1 mana to go off on the same turn.
One thing I'm considering is adding some Eldrazi like TKS or Reality Smasher. Might be good, might be bad. More Staff of Domination + Metalworker could be another infintie option (bonus points for both being searchable with Trophy Mage).
Edit:
I've screwed around a bit more. This list can goldfish on T3 pretty consistently now with various infinite combos (many of them are pretty modular). The lack of protection/disruption is somewhat worrisome, but I think it can be fixed by finding spots for more taxing artifacts. Inventor's Fair might also deserve additional copies. Here's an updated list:
// 60 Maindeck
// 20 Artifact
4 Basalt Monolith
4 Grim Monolith
4 Chalice of the Void
3 Staff of Domination
1 Eye of Ramos
4 Talisman of Dominance
// 16 Creature
4 Wake Thrasher
4 Trophy Mage
4 Walking Ballista
4 Metalworker
// 4 Enchantment
4 Power Artifact
// 20 Land
4 Ancient Tomb
3 City of Traitors
1 Inventors' Fair
1 Academy Ruins
7 Island
4 Seat of the Synod
This deck looks like tons of fun to play. I'm enjoy goldfishing it alot.
Edit #2:
Well, shit, looks like Rings of Brighthearth is another fetchable combo piece to go infinite with Basalt Monolith.
If UU is such a problem, have you considered some number of filter lands or Cascading Cataracts? I'm not sure if the 5, T on Cataracts is really feasible, but on the face of it, it seems workable on the combo turn.
Here's an older thread that experimented with a similar shell, though relied more on the beatdown plan rather than the Power Artifact combo. The current version I'm testing is more all-in on the Power Artifact combo as I found that Wake Thrasher and Crackdown Construct are just too slow and have no evasiveness or protection.
1 Mirage Mirror
1 Staff of Domination
1 Trinisphere
1 Ensnaring Bridge
3 Walking Ballista
4 Chalice of the Void
2 Intuition
4 Trophy Mage
3 Thirst for Knowledge
4 Force of Will
3 Power Artifact
3 Transmute Artifact
3 Talisman of Dominance
3 Grim Monolith
1 Basalt Monolith
1 Dark Depths
1 Tolaria West
4 Ancient Tomb
4 City of Traitors
2 Cavern of Souls
7 Island
4 Seat of the Synod
That's probably too expensive to be any good.
Wake Trasher might be actually too slow/easily stopped. I wouldn't mind replacing them with:
1 Rings of Brighthearth
2 Trinisphere
1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
Abrupt Decay is probably a major problem, so Padeem, Consul of Innovation might be a thing in the 75. Same thing goes for SB Defense Grid .
