That special frame looks actually nice. The white font for the card name and the mana symbols, not so much.
That's actually really cool, but of course they ruined it by not putting in the actually playable Jace Walker.
I actually don't mind the frame and the negative color scheme for the text and mana symbols.
The bottom frame flourish is a but much.
Card selection isn't awful.
Art is awful.
Problem is, things manufactured to be pimp are by definition, not pimp. So there's no reason to get any of them.
Frame and white text have grown on me a bit after looking at these a few times.
Brainstorm art should have been Ponder...
I didn't see anything about MSRP. You get 1 (!) random foil card. That will probably result in expensive foil copies, unless they shit the bed and go with FtV-style foil.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about Chandra with Lightning Bolt, Pyretic Ritual, and REB.
Jace Luc Piccard? These frames belong in a sci-fi tcg
I thought this would be cool but it looks like crap. Good thing it's reprints and not new cards that i have to play looking like this.
I like the frame but as said above the art isn't very good. Threads of Disloyalty in particular invokes one of those reactions where I feel personal embarrassment just by looking at it.
I guess art is supposed to invoke feelings but this feels more like the "we're laughing at you, not with you," moments.
The art is so-so. Out of the new art, BEB, Brainstorm and Tutor look alright.
Threads of Disloyality is just plain bad.
Gifts Ungiven looks like the Jace version of Three Wise Men, except they forgot the third member. Also, why are there two Jaces? Illusions shouldn't be able to carry your shit.
Negate is the worst offender, though. Not only is it questionable what it depicts, I also have no idea what is going on in the art. I initially wondered why Jace suddenly had a giant scar over his right eye until noticing that there were supposed to 4 Jace faces.
Wow...
The Harry Potter scars are actually his lips. I totally missed that. Nothing screams 'great art' like having to explain what's going on in it.
Edit: Not that I'm dissing Jason Rainville. The concept is gross, the execution seems fine.
They should have just went with the actual Planar Chaos frames AKA the best frames they have ever actually managed to make.
