[Podcast] - The Salt Mine Episode 17: GP Seattle Analysis

The Salt Mine finally return, this time with Melbourne ANT specialist Michael Webb in their wings, analysing where the metagame’s moving post-GP Seattle, the perceived under performance of ANT and Death & Taxes and what they’re looking to play for Australia’s upcoming Masters event.

There are some pretty serious audio problems / dead air from like 1:06:00 onwards, this is still my favourite legacy/mtg podcast but this kind of ruined the episode for me

I thought it was kind of weird you talked about Spectral Procession and then the Bahra deck but didn't mention Hallowed Spiritkeeper at all

Yep yep, audio problems have been fixed! Sorry about that.

I think they're two separate cards, maybe Spiritkeeper can be played in addition but I just want cards that impact the board immediately. More interested in having Painful Truth type effects than Sylvan Library effects, if that makes sense.

But Spiritkeeper still gives you an immediate 3 power of creature when you cast it, so in that sense its no different to spectral procession.
Plus it seems to have so much more synergy with the rest of the deck
    - Can be put into play off vial
    - Doesn't cost more under Thalia
    - Can cast it for 3 with Plains/Plains/Port

The only drawback compared to Procession seems to be something like 'what if you have no way to sac it and you really need to block Delver immediately' or something along those lines. (Or you expect to play vs Swords to Plowshares). I agree that the idea of Procession seems good (more value creatures to attack/block/not get punished by removal) but Procession just seems so awkward in the deck compared to this other option.

P&K in the red version also does a similar thing so maybe that's worth considering as well
