People are tired of the endless DRS clusterfuck that the format has become.

Maybe they are priming us to swallow an upcoming ban?

Wacky miracles deck on camera was cool. Post board had Delver, and ran Daze mainboard.

So 5 times essentially the same shit. If they don't ban DRS now, I don't know anymore.

    Also, Steel Stompy!

If I had of been playing Mono Red in that match I would have left in Chalice over 3ball. Chalice on 2 destroys Bots

Fast Dredge decks are something I thought would be pretty good in this Delver/Pile infested meta that relies heavily on DRS plus Surgical as gravehate. Evidently somebody else agreed with this take, and did well for themselves.

Say what you will, but that finals match was great to watch. Love to see a hometown(ish) hero win.

Both the semis and the finals were great matches. It was also a nice touch having all those people cheering for him in the background. We've seen much more awkward victory "celebrations" in MtG before.

That was a tough match to watch; too many punts from the robots guy.

But that Finals game two was pretty good. Mull to 5 and he still wins. I would have sequenced a bit differently and played a chalice on 2 but otherwise the play was fine. also, I'm pretty sure Gary is the oldest GP winner ever. I think he said he was 52. Grats to him.

Well, now that the top 2 decks in the format both eschew basics almost entirely, Dragon Stompy is looking at an all-you-can-eat buffet. More or less resolve a spell > win. Of course, it's still a high variance deck that doesn't tend to perform very reliably over the course of a long tournament but here we can see what it can do if it gets there.

I noticed a few of those to be sure. I want to imagine that the universe was just gunning for Gary to win.

I don't know about that; the game one of the finals was one of those dumb "tempo deck has everything" games but he still managed to pull it out. So maybe the universe is just antagonistic to Ancient Tomb decks in general :P

Speaking of which that Steel Stompy deck had weird stuff... I wonder how good the Etched Champion was? Seems like Traxos would be better most of the time.
