I was talking with a few friends about a new format we have been calling Modified Ban List Legacy. We wanted the format to still play like legacy so we came up with a "nope still banned list" with the fast mana plus Workshop, Bazaar and a few others but pretty much anything is legal as a four of.
I'm curious what people think of the format, what they would play, suggestions for the ban list anyway here it is...

Mana Drain still being banned but cards like Yawg Will being legal seems odd. On that note I'd play some combo deck with Will but haven't put too much thought into it.
Mana Drain on the list was about preserving the feel of Legacy more then pure power level. Yawg Will is busted in half but that's kind of the point, if you come up with a list I would be interested to see it.

This ban list works only if you ban Tendrils of Agony.
4x demonic tutor
4x vampiric tutor
4x imperial seal
4x yawg will
and all the other fast mana that's still not banned
Is the first broken thing that comes to mind
Tinker, memory jar stand out as problems here.

Just unban everything, but with a maximum of 5 restricted cards in your deck. You can have 5 moxen, but that's all you can have..
Why would anyone want to play a format that's nothing but turn 2 combo decks and yet isn't Vintage? Oath of Druids, Flash-Hulk, Tinker, Yawg-Will Tendrils, etc. It's not going to feel anything like Legacy mate.
Early one morning while making the round,
I took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down;
I went right home and I went to bed,
I stuck that lovin' .44 beneath my head.
Seeing threads like this show that Legacy players are utter garbage at managing any sort of ban list. Like, even worse than casual EDH players. This is just such a laughably bad ban list and would be an atrocious format.
Hehehe. A 4x format without Demonic Consultation on the ban list.
Terrible is subjective...there are people out there who enjoy standard and bud light.
Nobody has even mentioned the ridiculous shit that control gets. Cruise/Dig/Gush, Mental Misstep, Counter/Top, Balance.
As far as broken combos go we talked about having each person choose one banned card to play. It's not the version I prefer but it does cut down on the broken two card combos and I have to concede is more in line with the philosophy of having the format still play like Legacy.

It appears that consult and will are legal. I know what I'd play, and it'd end in tendrils every time.

Been there, tried that, still casting Doomsday.
Drawing my deck for 0 mana since 2013.
In my play group we allow exactly one card from the banned list in every deck. Any card. We have been doing this for years, and it has only caused a problem once (think recurring Ancestral Recall). The upshot has been very fun. We get to experience Chaos Orb hilarious, shaharazad stupid, and Fastbond broken. But only enough to try it out.

"Politicians are like diapers. They should be changed often and for the same reason."
"Governing is too important to be left to people as silly as politicians."
"Politicians were mostly people who'd had too little morals and ethics to stay lawyers."
Tinker being legal is really bad. The best deck in the format would be a blue Tinker deck and it wouldn't even be close.
