GP sides are only 3 rounds.
IMO, the only good side event value is turbotown. I wrote about it a bit here: https://blog.seemsgood.com/quick-tho...n-side-events/
Oooh, $1 games with randos over and over, with nice prizes, you may have given me a plan for the weekend. If MTG is anything like casino poker, I prefer the fun of a tournament structure over cash play, but that sounds really cool. I might just bring a backpack of decks and jam different decks in cash games for hours.
There's only a handful of Legacy Grand Prix in a given year. Just being able to play in them is a great experience, because honestly, the main event is just fluff; everything else that happens around it is what makes it a fun experience. At this point, some people are content traveling an hour or two for a 1/2K event, or possibly an Open if it's geographically-feasible.
Regardless, if you have the ability and desire to attend a GP: go for it.
I bought constructed fanatic last weekend at GP Prague for 90€
Sold Mutavault for 5€ and playmat for other 5€
I played 6events (3x were double up prizes) that bought individually were 130€
I won a box and half playing poorly (8w 10l final score)
The trick is...if you are 2-0 or 1-1 agree on a draw...especially on double up events...to give you an idea...2-0-1 or 2-1 on a double up are 400 points = 1 box and 4 boosters...whorty amost the price of the constructed package
Skip main event play 18 rounds with great prizes this is my advice

Grixis Control vs. Death's Shadow in round 3 on now. They're also doing this thing that could be cool, where they follow Reid Duke around for the entire tournament.

Great coverage so far! I love legacy
I did the limited side event at GP seattle and it was super worth the mutavault/playmat and (i think it was 6 events) for almost 200. i forget how much.
Did 1 chaos draft and the rest were masters drafts so pretty much got money's worth. Opened a JTMS so that felt good on top.
Sounds fine to me.

Props to the coverage team trying something different. The audio's not perfect, but listening to both the commentators and the players talk works for me.
Watching Grixis Tap-out Jammy Jams round after round is pretty pointless. It's slightly better than watching someone cheese wins off Counterbalance over and over, but still should be showing variety of matchups which are interesting.
Look they cast Hymn....then they got to 4 mana and they SCM/re-Hymn....then JTMS or SCM looping with Kcomm....cool. Hellbent the gathering; basically modern.

ps: if that card said spell or ability then it would probably see some play.
