    GP changes for 2019

    Or a TL;DR:

Number of events down and the events are no longer called Grand Prix, but hey, now you can enjoy plowing some moms on the MagicFest™.

So, besides a name change, I don't think changes anything about Legacy events? Except possibly changes the number of them?

Yeah, I don't know about anyone else but that is to be expected when just Q1 of events has been released. Fests seems like a more apt term to describe GPs now, GPs feel a lot more like giant magic conventions these days.

I'd love to have a battle of wits with you but I see you lack the necessary equipment.

    Good day.

I didn't mean to imply that there would be more or less, just that the number never was a fixed value. So, Legacy is basically in the same position it was with the old "GP " system, even with these changes. At least, as far as I can tell.

Apparently, a Magic Fest already exists and they aren't too happy about WotC using the same name.

WotC should know that you can't use the Magic Fest name unless you're a member of the Alliance of Magicians.

I've been watching season 4 of Gotham, you know, that take on the Batman universe where everything always turns out for the worst and everybody, and I do mean everybody, is just an impressive mix of insane and incompetent?

I feel like that's what working at WotC must be like.

I don't know which is funnier...

...a bunch of sweaty neckbeard's disapointment when they discover their local MagicFest is for actual magic.

    or

...a bunch of sweaty neckbeard's disapointment when they discover their local MagicFest is for a children's card game.
