ROUND 4 of SEASON 6: DEVIANT LEGACY has started.
This round we will play Russian Life Poker
Each player submits a life total between 1 and 30 with their deck, in each match the player with the lowest bid for life total is on the play in both games, if players submitted the same bid, the match is played out normally with both players one game on the play.
No additional bannings. Also no new bannings for the main list. I want to see how things proceed first.
I have PM'ed myself my deck for round 4, so you can start sending me your decks.
EDIT: NEW DEADLINE: Thursday the 30th of April, at 11:00AM Central European Time.
(That's my time zone. Pacific Time it'll probably be something like Wednesday night a bit past midnight, so keep that in mind.)
PLEASE NOTE:
The way you send your deck to me matters. Please send it in the way described below, so it doesn't cost me an hour of editing before I can post all the decks.
Please send your deck as follows: Mountain, Goblin Guide, Mogg Fanatic, Lightning Bolt, life bid: 7.
So with card tags around each card, and not above eachother, and with your Username and 4CB S06R04 in the topic, and don't forget to add your bid for starting life total.
Don't forget to keep an eye on the banned list. You'll find it in the second post of the thread, or in our Google Spreadsheet.
After the deadline has passed, I will post all decks on the forum here, and you can start puzzling out your scores.
If you have any questions, please read the first two posts of this thread first. If you can't find the answer there, drop a message here. We'll answer a.s.a.p.
Also, if you've been lurking on this thread and looking to join, you can step in anytime, any round. That's no problem at all. Just send me your deck before the deadline, and I'll add you to the competition.
Happy deck designing everybody!

This new round certainly seems like one of the more interesting metagame puzzles.
Not to mention the fact that Gut Shot costs life to play for free.

I Mental Misstep your Gut Shot
LOL yeah. That's rather silly as well.
But okay, let's move the deadline a day.
NEW DEADLINE: THURDSAY the 30th of April, at 11:00AM Central European Time.

(EDIT: I have also already created my deck for round 5, so we can speed up and have our deadline for round 5 on our usual Wednesday again.)

I've been pondering this since I submitted my last deck. This time I have five or six ideas, but they all seem to rock-paper-scissors each other and I have no idea what is "objectively" powerful. I'm waiting for last minute inspiration to force a decision.
Why do starting life totals go up to 30? Shouldn't the starting bid be 1-20? I assumed that losing the bid means you start at the usual 20 life. What happens if two people bid 24 and 25?
All of the ideas I have feel very rock paper scissors as well, and I don't know whether to play what seemed like the most "obvious" deck to me, or play the deck that beats that assuming others will play that deck. Lots to consider, and I've changed decks a few times already, probably driving Asthereal crazy haha.
I think I'll share some of my other brews after the round.

I did not even consider this a possibility. The only thing that made sense to me was that the bidder starting at the winning amount and the other player started at 20. When two people bid in an auction, the loser doesn't pay.
If two people both bid 15, I assumed they would both start at 20, because that's normal. But you're saying they start at 15? Ah well, I don't think it would have changed much.
Yup, you just start at the life you bid every game.
In an auction, you'd be right: you lose, you don't pay.
In Russian Roulette, however...
(Or Poker, for that matter.)
Anyway, about 90 minutes until the deadline, we're at 7 entries.
Not bad, but I'm missing two regulars. Don't be late!
