    2. Tylert: Deputy is always online by the time I have Barren Glory out. Who knew you would play Aether Vial? LL 0-6
    3. Wrath of Pie: OTP I suspend Lotus before you can Divest. OTD you can Divest one, but I Noxious it back before my turn 1. WW 6-0

Deputy of Detention exiles ALL of them.... so you might not want to resolve Hypergenesis.

Reading is tech. But not resolving Hypergenesis means I just get bobbled by a Myr. So apparently it doesn't matter.

Yeah, but wouldn't I just wait for you to do that and instant speed sac the Spitter and make you discard the Barren Glory in your draw step?

Oh you can Cry at instant speed? I looked at it as a sorcery. I guess the 2nd copy can go off any time? Then LL for me.

Edit: Reading is tech, it's not even a copy just a trigger.

Wouldn't it be better to keep Deputy, since then we draw (since I can't play Chrono until after you Deputy, then we just wait on each other)?

He can only cry at instant speed if he has a target... Although, in this scenario, i guess he can play Chronomaton before Lotuses resolve :) and therefore he has a target.

But you can still draw on the play:

    T1 = Lotus x2. Spitter
    T2 = L2 L2. Cry discard glory
    T3 = L1 L1. Chronomaton
T4 = Noxious on barren glory, he has to cry and must kill chronomaton. so it's a draw.

If i keep deputy (and stay on vial at 3) you attack with spitter... so I have to use deputy on spitter...
Remember that i have only one instance to put a card in play with vial. So if i discard myr keep Chancellor on first use of cry, I will not be able to keep deputy up and tick up vial to cast Chancellor...

Spitter is actually a legal target for itself though.

That's a good point, yeah, I was thinking I needed to pop the Spitter for the second one right away, but in that case, where you discard the Myr to the Cry, yeah, I can wait then.

    3. Wrath of Pie: Blackcleave Cliffs, Divest, Keldon Halberdier, Chronomaton

    1. Asthereal (TO): Chancellor of the Tangle, Chancellor of the Tangle, Chancellor of the Tangle, Hypergenesis LL
    2. Tylert: Aether vial, Chancellor of the tangle, Myr superion, Deputy of detention WL - Tragically, Aether Vial is an artifact and is vulnerable to Divest on the play.
    4. H: Cry of Contrition, Fume Spitter, Chronomaton, Swamp DD - Keldon Halberdier having 1 toughness lets me down here.
    5. FTW: Lotus Bloom, Lotus Bloom, Barren Glory, Noxious Revival LL

I tried to submit Shelldock Isle+Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, a weenie deck in comparison. Shelldock's slower than Blazing Shoal, figured it would have been legal.

Blazing Shoal should be on the initial banned list, but I was lazy and decided to use the list from Legacy, when we failed to come up with a Shoal deck and never banned it.
Then again, Shoal deck loses to any instant speed removal. It's VERY risky. Shelldock plus Emrakul is a lot harder to stop. You'll need to prevent Emrakul from reaching the grave or deck.

@Tylert: I would like to point out that Divest can make you discard Vial when you're on the draw, which stops you from getting your dudes out.

    Re: 4 Card Blind

If all scores posted are correct, that should lead to these standings for round 2:

    Rank. Player: Score - SP
    1. Tylert: 15 - 3,8
    2. H: 14 - 3,5
    3. Asthereal (TO): 12 - 3
    3. FTW: 12 - 3
    5. Wrath of Pie: 5 - 1,3

I am very sorry for Tylert only getting to play his pet deck for one round.
Then again, your pet deck winning a round must feel pretty good, so perhaps it was worth it.

So these cards will be added to the banned list:
    Aether Vial
    Chancellor of the Tangle
    Myr Superion
    Deputy of Detention

Season standings after round 2, for those who care so early on:
    1. Asthereal (TO): 7,0
    2. H: 6,5
    3. Wrath of Pie: 5,3
    4. Tylert: 4,8
    5. FTW: 3,0

    Re: 4 Card Blind

ROUND 3 of SEASON 5: MODERN MADNESS has started.

I have PM'ed myself my deck for round 3, so you can start sending me your decks.

DEADLINE: Wednesday the 29nd of January, at 11:00AM Central European Time.
(That's my time zone. Pacific Time it'll probably be something like Tuesday night a bit past midnight, so keep that in mind.)

    PLEASE NOTE:
The way you send your deck to me matters. Please send it in the way described below, so it doesn't cost me an hour of editing before I can post all the decks.
Please send your deck as follows: Swamp, Mountain, Blightspeaker, Combust (so with card tags around each card, and not above eachother), with your Username and 4CB S05R03 in the topic.
Many of you already do this. Thanks a lot, this really saves me a lot of time and hassle of copying and pasting text and tags!
Oh and don't forget to keep an eye on the banned list. It will grow every round. You'll find the banned list in the second post of the thread, or in our Google Spreadsheet.

After the deadline has passed, I will post all decks on the forum here, and you can start puzzling out your scores.
If you have any questions, please read the first two posts of this thread first. If you can't find the answer there, drop a message here. We'll answer a.s.a.p.

Also, if you've been lurking on this thread and looking to join, you can step in anytime, any round. That's no problem at all. Just send me your deck before the deadline, and I'll add you to the competition.

    Happy deck designing everybody!

About 24 hours until the deadline, and we're at two entries. Two.
What's up, guys? Tired of 4CB? Do you think modern isn't a fun format?
Or do you just need time to figure out what to play?

I will send something today or tonight. Don't expect something too original :)
I'm not tired of 4CB, it's just a bit harder with such a large pool. I can't find time to do my homework as well as when it was block tour...

I generally always get in at the las moment. The bigger card pool does slow me down some though, no doubt.
