Needs moar Champion of Dusk (and Oathsworn Vampire to combo with Sorin).

Champion looks sweet, I think bloodghast is better than Oathsworn. I'm not sure how to build the mana base for this? I'll run it in my proxy event this month.

Thinking of switching this to a dark ritual deck to try to turn one sorin into morophon/licia or buried alive.

    4 Preeminent captain
    4 sorin, imperious bloodlord
    4 stromkirk captain
    3 morophon
    4 licia

    3 bloodghast
    4 buried alive
    1 hogaak

    2 anje's ravager
    4 cabal therapy

    Re: Vampire Soldiers

Hogaak + 2 Bloodghast isn't that exciting payoff for resolving Dark Ritual + Buried Alive (which is not easy to assemble and vulnerable to many lines of disruption: counters, grave hate, storm hate, chalice). The bar is 3 Phoenixes or some reanimator combo.

What was wrong with the Chalice Stompy build? Was it not winning games?

I think if you cut red it would get easier to support.

    //Mana: 24

You're right I think. Kheru looks very cool, I never knew it existed. The two cc two color dudes liked gifted/legion r tough with the tombs.

I went an impressive 0-3 vs infect x2/ turbo depths. I'm thinking I'll swap the therapies for swords then cut the bitterblossom/contamination/oathsworn package for something.

3 vampire of the dire moon
    1 asylum visitor
    1 anje's ravager
    2 kheru mind-eater
    4 cabal therapy

    2 contamination
    3 bitterblossom
    2 Oathsworn Vampire

    4 Preeminent captain
    4 sorin, imperious bloodlord
    2 stromkirk captain
    2 mirror entity
    3 morophon
    4 licia

0 Chalice, 0 Thalia/spheres main, 0 Karakas, 0 Moons, only 4 discard main.... no wonder you lost 0-3 to fast combo. Contamination lock is good against some decks but too slow against the explosive ones.

To interact with fast combo, BW either needs something like 8 discard (4 Thoughtseize + 4 Therapy) or the stompy route like I had (Chalice + Thalia). The Vamp Soldier engine is cute, but you need interaction too.

Depths stomps everything without Swords and Karakas. Were those freak pairings or is your local meta Depths-heavy? If there's a lot of Depths, definitely add 4 Swords and any Karakas you own. I wouldn't cut discard though. You need something to interact with other unfair decks.

    Re: Vampire Soldiers

Using your Chalice-less list, I would try something like this

    //Spells: 10
    4 Thoughtseize
    4 Swords to Plowshares
    2 Cabal Therapy

    //Planeswalkers: 4
    4 Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord

    //Creatures: 23
4 Vampire of the Dire Moon
    4 Legion Lieutenant
    4 Preeminent Captain
    2 Kheru Mind-Eater
    2 Palace Jailer
    3 Morophon, the Boundless
    4 Licia, Sanguine Tribune

    //Mana: 23
    4 Chrome Mox
    4 Ancient Tomb
    4 Marsh Flats
    2 Prismatic Vista
    2 Scrubland
    3 Snow-Covered Swamp
    2 Snow-Covered Plains
    2 Karakas

Play more interaction. That still has the core engine but it also has more disruption against unfair decks.

Legion Lieutenant is easier to cast than Stromkirk Captain. Unlike other Sol Land decks, there are still 19 colored sources here + 4 Sorin and 3 Morophon to cheat them out.

It looks good! I'll run something very close to this next week. I wish there was a good vampire token generator.

I guess Sorin and the 3/3 flyer are too slow?
ANd legion's landing also? (And anyway, i don't see this flipping easily in legacy)

    Re: Vampire Soldiers

0-3 again with a list very close to FTW's. The aggro backup plan just doesn't seem good enough right now and not sure if one good enough could be built with vampires. I'm considering either going soldiers heavy instead of vampires or BWg for living wish (to get depths)/vampire hexmage. Something like:

    4 Preeminent captain
    4 sorin, imperious bloodlord
    4 vampire hexmage
    4 living wish
    4 licia
    4 stp
    2 sylvan library
    12 ?

    4 chrome mox
    4 ancient to
    14 land

    SB
    1 depths
    1 big vampire
    1 big soldier

    Re: Vampire Soldiers

I don't own chalices, but if I do run this again I'll be borrowing chalices.

I went 1-3 tonight for a lifetime 1-9 now, so I'm retiring the chalice-less build of this deck. I lowered the curve and made it more aggressive which I liked, but still not very good.

    4 enlistment officer
    3 thalia, guardian of thraben
    2 kytheon, hero of akros
    1 palace jailer
    3 legion warboss
    1 legion loyalist
    2 vicious conquistador
    2 goldmeadow harrier

    4 Preeminent captain
    4 sorin, imperious bloodlord
    2 mirror entity
    3 morophon
    4 licia

    3 swords to plowshares

    4 chrome mox
