    Snow Dragon

    Greetings, everyone.

Worldgorger decks have usually struggled with a payoff for the infinite ETBs, relying on bad cards such as Piranha Marsh or Desolate Lighthouse, or a fragile Baleful Strix. Arcum's Astrolabe provides a clean win from a reanimating a Dragon, whilst enabling an almost Wasteland-proof manabase.

This deck is built in a midrange shell, using T3feri to protect the combo from interaction, while also being able to grind by bouncing Astrolabes.

In the combo line, there are two ways to stack the triggers: astrolabe's draw trigger put on stack first, providing a mana loop whilst stacking draw triggers (which will never resolve); once you have infinite mana, you stack the animate dead trigger first, and can draw a card for each iteration. Then, all you need is an instant speed mana sink to win. There are probably arguments for: Stroke of Genius, but we currently have no way to recur it once it gets discarded or has to be used in the mid game; Oona, which pitches, but is harder to cast if needed. I chose Ishkanah, which is slighttly cheaper, and has ETB value. Plus, style points. Worldgorger combo is for style points anyways. You can use Entomb and Brainstorm (if needed) to put it in the bin, then switch the Animate Dead target and proceed to win.

There is a 1-of Griselbrand, who can beat some decks on its own, or provide infinite value and route our way to a combo win. Additionaly, I've includedly some Entomb value targets in Lingering Souls and Deep Analysis so it is less of a dead draw when not trying to combo.

Thoughseize is a notable omission, but I think it is too much of a liabilty vs. Veil of Summer, a card even in some main decks. There is a tuturable Cabal Therapy though, for when the coast is clear, or to discard a combo piece stuck in hand.

    Main Deck (60)

    4 Flooded Strand
    1 Marsh Flats
    4 Polluted Delta
    3 Snow-Covered Island
    1 Snow-Covered Plains
    2 Snow-Covered Swamp
    1 Tropical Island
    1 Tundra
    1 Underground Sea

    4 Arcum's Astrolabe

    4 Brainstorm
    4 Entomb
    3 Force of Will
    3 Spell Pierce
    3 Swords to Plowshares

    1 Cabal Therapy
    1 Deep Analysis
    1 Lingering Souls
    4 Ponder

    1 Baleful Strix
    1 Griselbrand
    1 Ishkanah, Grafwidow
    1 Worldgorger Dragon

    4 Animate Dead
    1 Necromancy

    2 Oko, Thief of Crowns
    3 Teferi, Time Raveler

    Sideboard (15)

    1 Abrupt Decay
    1 Baleful Strix
    1 Brazen Borrower
    1 Coffin Purge
    1 Drown in the Loch
    1 Engineered Explosives
    1 Faerie Macabre
    1 Force of Will
    1 Karakas
    2 Monastery Mentor
    1 Plague Engineer
    2 Veil of Summer
    1 Zealous Persecution

The sideboard is definetly not set in stone, but transforming into a full midrange deck post board is a good plan to have available. You get mentors, veils, and different forms of interaction, while they are drawing dead Surgicals, RiPs, or Leylines.

Questions and suggestions are always welcome!

    Re: Snow Dragon

The deck lacks serious wincons, so already you kinda know you need to swap Oko to 3x and Teferi to 2x. The way these decks play out, they need more SCM in the maindeck (SB strategy is to side into a janky value pile); Iskanah, Souls, Deep Analysis are a little too egregious to support. Necromancy is not defensible, use Dance of the Dead (or better yet, Reanimate as the 1x). Remember that those Reanimator cards see opponent's graveyards, so you want Thoughtseize as ~Entomb target opponent (Seize is going to be better than Pierce).

You do need cards that draw your deck and/or Entomb a wincon for Snapcaster (this is where the Reanimate pays off with double Entomb off one card). There is definitely a "dies to Goyf" problem in this deck, so you are likely to need more Strix/Coatl (decrease Astro to 3x) out of your "draw your deck" suite.

Also looking at the deck, be aware that even with Oko in your list that DnT can pretty much destroy you with a single Karakas (and it really doesn't matter if they let you draw 7-14 cards with Grisel). The moment they start saving Plow for Snapcaster or Dragon, you're pretty much toast. You need a good deal more anti-DnT SB dedication.

I've been brewing around with Worldgorger for a while now, and I would suggest adding in a couple of Snapcaster Mages, which allow you to use Stroke of Genius even if it ends up in the graveyard before you combo off. Another fun card I've added is Sevinne's Reclamation, which can bring back your Animate Dead into play and plays well with Entomb and Snapcaster Mage.
