    Lurrus in the MD

    Lurrus looks to me like a dreadhorde arcanist of sorts for permanents, though 3cmc and you need to pay for your spell. I think it is good enough to see md play if it wasn't a companion, which I feel is the issue with it. So I'm curious, would you guys run it md if they errata out companion?

    With recruiter of the guard in the deck I would. Otherwise, I suppose so, depending on what the rest of the deck looks like.. Not comfortable discussing delver decks though. Or storm, but can't imagine storm would play it md.

    Right but as a thought experiment.

    I would run it, had I pre-ordered it before the prices went crazy.

    In a team italia, d'n't, zombardment deck, Lurrus is just value town, forget about the companion part. There's even a cat-tribal deck now, runs Lurrus MD. It's a good card for sure. When you only have to pay 2 for your stuff back, it's not a lot, helps the mid-game extend so late-game there's still gas. For fair decks, it really helps. I know Storm plays a copy, so there's that, same idea. They get back LEDs, maybe petals, aether spellbombs in a pinch. I never thought of them going for the long game, but they use it strictly as a companion, whereas I like it MD. I'd be shocked if they MD the card.

    Storm doesn't use it for the long game.

    The main interaction is this:
    Crack LED for BBB
    Cast Lurrus from Companion zone
    Cast LED from grave

    You can do it when you would crack LED anyway for a free +2 storm at 0 cost (Lurrus takes up a companion slot). That wouldn't work from the maindeck.

    Or you can cast Lurrus earlier, then double crack LED on your combo turn.
    It also has some synergy with recurring Petals, gaining life for Ad Naus, and softlocking with Hope of Ghirapur loops. But generally it's used for the short-term storm and mana advantage, not the long game.

    Death & Taxes might be able to use it maindeck.

    Assuming "companions" are banned as "companions" - what would be the best Lurrus list? Something vaguely like Team Italia? Replaying Kroxa over and over seems mean and fun.

    4 Swords to Plowshares
    4 Thoughtseize
    4 Lightning Bolt
    2 Seal of Fire

    3 Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger
    3 Dark Confidant
    3 Hope of Ghirapur
    4 Mother of Runes
    4 Lurrus, of the Dream Den

    4 Arcum's Astrolab
    4 Lotus Petal
    4 Mishra's Bauble

    17 Lands

    Just a lot of fun Lurrus interactions. Petal, Hope, Bauble, Seal, Kroxa

    Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger is pretty bad. It only stays if you escape it.

    Deadguy Ale might be a better shell

    //Creatures: 18
    4 Mother of Runes
    3 Cabal Therapist
    4 Dark Confidant
    4 Stoneforge Mystic
    3 Lurrus, of the Dream Den

    //Artifacts: 7
    4 Mishra's Bauble
    1 Umezawa's Jitte
    1 Sword of Fire and Ice
    1 Battersull

    //Spells: 15
    4 Swords to Plowshares
    4 Thoughtseize
    4 Cabal Therapy
    3 Lingering Souls

    //Lands: 20
    3 Karakas
    4 Marsh Flats
    4 Prismatic Vista
    4 Scrubland
    2 Snow-Covered Plains
    3 Snow-Covered Swamp

    Sideboard could include cards like
    Nihil Spellbomb
    Tormod's Crypt
    Deafening Silence
    Seal of Cleansing
    Hope of Ghirapur

    It could also work in D&T as a Recruiter target to recur guys

    nah- you want it to go to the grave so you can recast it each turn with lurrus and make opponent discard and potentially lose 3 life.

    I clearly said they use it strictly as a companion, while this thread is about MD. Any storm game that hoes beyond turn 4 in my book is a long game. YMMV

    OT - DEADGUY ALE! I knew i was forgetting something. 8-rack for lulz.

    If only it could do both that and deal combat damage at the same time

    That's more of a modern strategy: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/vexi...r-titans-deck/
