    Re: Keruga Stompy

    Punishing Blood Sun red stompy took 3rd in this weekend's challenge:
    https://magic.wizards.com/en/article...jizma_rd_place

    Most of the deck is playable with Keruga. The cards that aren't are the 4 Chalice + 4 Punishing Fire + 2 Shatterskull Smashing + 2 Mox

    The rest of the deck is

    //Mana: 25
    4 Ancient Tomb
    4 City of Traitors
    3 Eldrazi Temple
    4 Grove of the Burnwillows
    6 Mountain

    4 Simian Spirit Guide

    //Creatures: 17
    4 Goblin Rabblemaster
    2 Birgi, God of Storytelling
    1 Bonecrusher Giant
    1 Eldrazi Obligator
    1 Hazoret the Fervent
    4 Thought-Knot Seer
    4 Reality Smasher

    //Enchantments: 4
    4 Blood Sun

    //Spells: 2
    2 Fiery Confluence

    The mana from Birgi has good synergy with Punishing Fire. The other side is a great engine when flooded. Not sold how good Birgi is without Punishing Fire to abuse the mana.

    Punishing Fire could potentially be replaced by going up to 4 Bonecrusher Giant and adding a 3rd Fiery Confluence.

    Chalice could be replaced by 3sphere, with 4 ESG added for acceleration.

    Birgi's flipside should be pretty strong as well since it turns PF into a draw engine.

    Re: Keruga Stompy

    Without pfire is there really a reason to be in red? Imo eldrazi aggro is the best place for Keruga since you get the most sol lands. Leyline of the void is a nice hate piece with Keruga, so why not play Eldrazi aggro with the blue black processor cards?

    Take this list minus wasteland and city plus UB lands. Chalice/thorn to 3ball/trinisphere isn’t a big downgrade.
    Then you change all the ouat and cheap eldrazi to UB devoid creatures.

    4 Elvish Spirit Guide
    4 Matter Reshaper
    4 Thought-Knot Seer
    4 Reality Smasher

    4 Ancient Tomb
    4 Cavern of Souls
    4 Eldrazi Temple
    4 Eye of Ugin

    The above is unchanged, then you add

    2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth (on colour sol land with eye)
    2 Gemstone caverns (chrome mox eq)
    4 Underground River “(UB pain land)”

    4 Wasteland Strangler (replaces mimic as an early threat)
    4 Ruination Guide (lord and enables your processor cards)
    4 Ulamog’s Nullifier (replaces endless one as middling threat)
    4 Trinispher (replaces thorn)
    4 Leyline (replaces chalice, enables processors and Keruga)

    Red is for T1 Blood Moon/Blood Sun, which should be significantly stronger in the post-Snowko meta. Red also has SSG acceleration and Bonecrusher Giant as early removal, so the deck has more early plays without even giving up any threat slots.

    Keruga Stompy cannot run Chalice of the Void, which is a major limitation. To have a reasonable chance of slowing down other decks, it needs 4 Trinisphere + a 2nd fast prison piece. 3ball alone isn't enough. Blood Moon or Blood Sun would be a great compliment. Green has Choke, which is good, but doesn't quite fill the void.

    UB Eldrazi Processors enabled by Leyline of the Void is an interesting direction. If Leyline is the only thing exiling, it may be win-more compared to just casting Helm/Karn. Karn, the Great Creator is an easy addition too. Blue does have Brazen Borrower over Bonecrusher Giant. It won't be easy to cast as a creature, but having access to Petty Theft is still strong. Black also has Dismember.

    UB does look interesting. But, as I think you know from your own Stompy building, Leyline doesn't fill the void left by Chalice. The deck needs something else. 3ball off 4 sol lands + 4 spirit guides won't even come down turn 1, and 3ball is the only resistor.

    TKS and the blue lord are also exiling. Alternatively you could run memory leak, ashiok, or Opposition agent as exiling/cheap disruption pieces.

    But yes the deck does seem too slow compared to the initial deck or eldrazi stompy. Hmm
