I ordered a set to play 8-Lynx in Modern. I think it's going to make Zoo a tier 2 deck again. Modern generally has a pretty broken metagame, but the more degenerate it gets the less focused it is on removal. I envision t1 Hellhound/Lynx, t2 fetchland, Burning Tree Emissary, Reckless Bushwhacker, attack for 10. If I can't play Zoo in legacy I'll play it in Modern, it was my first real deck I built way back in Extended during the LSV/Elves era that I converted into my first Legacy deck.

If fetchlands/Grim Lavamancer become tech for Burn again I could easily see Hellhound in that kind of list alongside GG/Swiftspear/Grim.

Hellhound will likely make its way into Legacy Burn lists, once they realize how powerful it is. In my Sligh list, I'm on Delver, Hound, Guide, and Swiftspear, which are basically the most aggressive creatures in the format (without dipping into white for Lynx itself). It's basically a hyper aggressive Zoo deck at this point, with Daze and Brainstorm maindeck, and 8x Force in the sideboard to dramatically improve the combo matchups.

Now I'm derailing, but whatever: is it fast enough that I could play Steam Vents over Volcanics?

I think we'll see one or two Wayward Guide-Beasts in sligh decks.

I don't think it's playable but I'm intrigued by Nahiri's Lithoforming and how it can interact with Amulet of Vigor.

It is, but they're a non-bo with Daze. The deck consistently goldfishes on turn 3, although most games have interaction causing them to go a bit longer. It's certainly more viable than Delver with Steam Vents, if nothing else, and my current list only runs 2 Volcanic Island anyway.

Wayward will most likely see play in Modern RW with 8 Lynx as a way to return lands to replay to keep feeding them. I could see a mono-red list with Wayward, Hound, Guide, and Swiftspear being a thing too. Not sure if that will see any Legacy play, but you never know.

I see no reason to stay strictly mono-red, Boros Charm is that format's Price of Progress and Lightning Helix goes in/out of favor. Deflecting Palm and the R/W canopy land are also good reasons to splash white, as well as Path to Exile in the sideboard depending on the metagame. I'd rather blast Wild Nacatl's, Burning-Tree Emissary's, and Reckless Bushwhackers but that's just a personal choice.

I understand that Vents + Daze is bad news, does your list play a basic Island? I would think maybe one, and that would be fairly hard to justify in a list leaning so hard into red.

I meant mono-red in Legacy, where Wasteland is a thing.

No basic Island, it's mostly a red deck with only Delver, Brainstorm, and Daze that require an Island, where you frequently want to be able to cast multiple red spells in a single turn. Basic Island hurts more than it helps. My current list is in my signature.

People seem to put up some results in Modern with the Omnath. Wouldn't be surprised if it eventually showed up in some land-centric deck or some 4C/5C Snow clusterfuck deck.

Omnath is very legit. The most overlooked line of text on him is "when this ETB, draw a card". Basically, if you can play Omnath and a fetch on the same turn, it's a free 4/4 that draws you a card and gains you 4 life. That's really, really good.

The Omnath/Cobra/Uro decks in standard are already the best thing out there BY FAR, and surprisingly it's not Uro or Cobra that's the most powerful card in them, it's Omnath. Well, that and the fact that Ugin just slots right in there, so there's no actual way to effectively attack the deck. Guessing Uro is what eats the ban out of it, since that contributes to the problem of being unable to race it with aggro thanks to all the lifegain.

But yes, if you're playing Snoko, you should absolutely put 2-3 Omnaths in it immediately.

EDIT: I'm very serious about that deck eating at least one ban btw, the shell of it just got discovered on basically day one, and there really is no good way to attack it. You can't go over the top because it ramps to much, you can't go under because it has early blockers and tons of lifegain, you can't rely on the graveyard because of Ugin exiling your stuff, and it draws waaaayy to many cards to even think about one for one-ing it.

EDIT2: I mean, I'm playing a sub-optimal version of it with no sideboard and it's already carried me halfway through diamond, only losses are to mirrors.

Looks like Felidar Retreat is good as well: (doesn't surprise me, though, as it's essentially a cheaper Field of the Dead):

So the 4C clusterfuck (feat. Omnath) continues

Felidar Retreat looks like it could put in some serious work in Snowko, probably better than Sharknado due to the lower casting cost and not being vulnerable to red blasts. Might be a strong card in Miracles as well.

So, it seems like there will be a Banned List update for Standard already. People seem to be saying that Uro likely bites the bullet here. Seems logical, since they aren't going to ban cards from a new set just yet most likely. Maybe I should burn a few Wildcards on Uros, this way I get them back and still have the cards for Historic. Thoughts?

Did they announce something? I didn't see anything on any of the sources

I can't link the Tweet directly from here, but here it is from SCG.

Not explicitly noted as a Banned list announcement, but hard to say that is because it isn't, or because they are being a little cagey.

Not surprised if Uro got banned.
That card is just too good with landfall.

Ugin could also take a hit since he can win games alone way too easily.

The problem at the core remains still that there is too much ramp, too much to ramp into and threats being undercosted in general.
That makes it really difficult to ban something without putting like 10 cards on the list at once.
While they at least didn't print any ramp spells at 2 cmc in Zendikar III, we got lotus snek for free mana.

Indeed, the new Omnath plus Cobra is silly. I've faced it on Brawl a bunch of times, the deck is totally nonsensical, if you aren't on Omnath yourself it feels like you have a Sealed Deck versus a Vintage one. I just don't think they will ban something that literally just came out though.

    Well, Oko already happened.
But yeah, it just shines a bad light on their development team.
However, considering the nonsense they have been printing the past few years, it's not a surprise.

Maybe it's just me and I'm old and crusty, but it feels like they want every format to be commander since it sells.
As consequence, every other format suffers.
I have been finding Brawl to be actually more enjoyable then other arena formats just because it's singleton so you don't see the same shit every game.
