    Tendrils and false Cure

Which happens first the life gain from Tendrils or the loss on the opponent?

Reason being is we're trying to figure out if False Cure actually has a good use by casting it in response to a Tendrils.

False Cure creates a triggered ability which will trigger during the resolution of each copy of Tendrils. It will be put on the stack after each copy resolves.

    Example stack:
10 x Tendrils of Agony copies.

The first ToA resolves. Player A loses 2 life (-2) and Player B gains 2 life (+2)
Now, False Cure triggers and resolves. Player B loses 4 life (-2)
The second ToA resolves. Player A loses 2 life (-4) and Player B gains 2 life (+0)
Now, False Cure triggers and resolves. Player B loses 4 life (-4)
The third ToA resolves. Player A loses 2 life (-6) and Player B gains 2 life (-2)
Now, False Cure triggers and resolves. Player B loses 4 life (-6)
    etc.

Essentially, both players lose 2 life, alternating, starting with the original target of Tendrils.
This may or may not cause Player B to lose before Player A does. It depends on the life totals.

This is form the star city rulings section..

Q: My opponent Storms up a count of nine and then plays Tendrils of Agony. I respond with False Cure. The False Cure will resolve first and then each time he gains two life he will lose two. If at the start of this we have the same life total, will this end up in a draw or will he win?

A: He will win. This is because False Cure creates delayed triggered abilities that will use the stack. This delayed triggered ability will go on the stack after each individual copy of Tendrils resolves and he gains life. When each of these delayed triggered abilities resolves he will lose four life. Because state-based effects are checked after each item on the stack resolves your life total will go to zero first and you will lose the game before the False Cure triggered ability that would lower his life total to zero even goes on the stack.

It's interesting to note, however, that in the exact same situation, Rain of Gore would cause you both to lose, as Rain of Gore uses a replacement effect rather than a delayed triggered ability.

Combining False Cure with any sort of pre-emptive damage, however, should be sufficient to kill your opponent with his lethal Tendrils on the stack. 2 is usually all you'll need. If he's at 18 and you're at 19 (From a fetchland or ritual burn or whatnot), False Cure will win it for you.
