How do people in here feel about FNM promo foils in general? Are they even worse than "non-foil"s?
Where I play, any kind of FNM promo is considered a proxy until you get the real card.
Unless it's the only old frame foil around, like Swords to Plowshares.

Anyway, some promos are actually better than the set foil. Like the WPN Path to Exile and the FNM Bloodbraid Elf. But by and large promos are shit. Like, if you have your choice between original non-foil and new bordered FTV foil with patented X-treme Fold technology, the original non-foil will always win.

I prefer things to be foil, Japanese, and original printing. If this isn't possible, then here's the hierarchy of importance: Foil > Original Printing > Japanese.
I would rather play with a shit-flecked border-erased Tempest Lotus Petal than that FTV abomination.
Sometimes there do have to be exceptions.

Reminds me of a card (possibly Karakas!) someone posted a while back that got wet with a newspaper or something above it and the ink transfered.
Too bad it's banned in EDH. There's really no way to use that card.
