On the off chance that this combo is not banned June 1st, I have continued to work on this deck. You'll notice my list resembles Steve Sadin's 1st Place Grand Prix list, for reasons that should be obvious to anyone. I really like the synergy main deck Sensei's Top and Dark Confidant have, as well as having a reliable card quality and advantage in the deck. I'm also testing Counterbalance over Duress right now, as Counterbalance can be pitched to Force of Will, and is strong against the Fish and Gro decks that have an almost even match-up with this deck. Because those decks have roughly the same curve as this deck, Counterbalance can be a huge beating. Here is my list:
// Lands
1 [B] Tropical Island
1 [B] Volcanic Island
2 [B] Island (2)
4 [ON] Polluted Delta
4 [ON] Flooded Strand
3 [B] Underground Sea
// Creatures
1 [JU] Benevolent Bodyguard
1 [UD] Body Snatcher
1 [UL] Karmic Guide
4 [DIS] Protean Hulk
1 [CHK] Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker
1 [SC] Carrion Feeder
4 [RAV] Dark Confidant
// Spells
4 [CHK] Sensei's Divining Top
4 [NE] Daze
3 [CS] Counterbalance
4 [AL] Lim-Dul's Vault
4 [MI] Flash
3 [MI] Mystical Tutor
4 [MM] Brainstorm
4 [AL] Force of Will
1 [DS] Echoing Truth
1 [NE] Massacre
// Sideboard
SB: 1 [NE] Reverent Silence
SB: 3 [IA] Pyroblast
SB: 4 [PS] Quirion Dryad
SB: 3 [NE] Massacre
SB: 4 [GP] Leyline of the Void
I cut one Mystical Tutor so I could fit everything in. I've also got Pyroblasts in the board for the mirror, and aggro-control match-up. Pyroblast can also be used to power up Dryads in a pinch, because they can target anything.
If your really playing the deck up to assumed bannings Id strongly consider the pacts for the deck. Most counterspells are obsolete with Pact of Negation and Summoners Pacts turns into G or Hulks 4-8. Mystical Tutor can then effectively tutor for Flash or Hulk.
Now playing real formats.
