I already posted my thoughts on SCG, but I would like to say re: Dreadnought: INBD.

I never had a problem with Hi-val, but I never really loved his articles (or posts for that matter). That said, I really liked the article. Interesting thoughts on Goblins and Fire Imp (I would have liked to see a suggestion of where he would fit though).

That 4 color list is all over the place! Did you test it out at all? Does it lose horribly to Goblins?

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Look at that Top8, there's no Goblins and I guess there weren't much Goblins at the event at all. The list reminds me of Paul Cheons Bigger Fish that was designed to be really good against other Fish and Threshold lists. With the addition of Counterbalance this deck looks perfect for the meta one can imagine by looking at the Top8.

This deck is called Baseruption (#aYb.aseruption).

It doesn't lose horroble to Goblin.
preboard it's really hard and you mostly lose.

But Postboard you have good chances:
You board the Counterbalance and weak cards out for 4 Plagues and 2 Vindicates. Postboard it is possible to win.

I just don't like that it is not called like it should be called ;)

This deck won 2 other Tournaments and made lots of Top3's in big tournaments (50+ players).

We have a Primer in german and LukasPreuß is going to translate it, later.

Btw, also the Ichorid list is from our #ayb teammate Florian Fischer ;P

Phantom, first off, thanks! I would have suggested some deck for Fire Imp but 1.) people apparently hate suggested lists that haven't been tested and 2.) I honestly have no idea where it fits. The card cost 18 cents when I bought a set from CCGbot last week and that seems stupidly low for a card that's getting play in Vintage and at some point, might see the light in Legacy.

"The concise strategy for the deck is to Dredge a lot, Dread Return up Cephalid Sage and dredge most of the rest of the deck away, and then Dread Return Flame-Kin Zealot to turn your Night of the Living Dead zombies into hyper 28 Days Later zombies and eat you some planeswalker brains."

lmao This is the best explanation for the deck ever.

I disagree with the assumption goyf should see play in U/G madness however. As much as the deck likes undercosted fatties it needs its madness outlets much more. Casting a 4/4 for 2G doesnt seem as good as a 4/5 for 1G but goyf cant be played instant speed or off LED.

    Nice article Doug.

I'm on the same page as Phantom here, while I have no problems with Hi-Val, he hasn't had any articles that were 'homeruns' for me, but this one was really good, going through many an interesting look at Legacy and presenting some other great options. Sorry, I meant to say as much on SCG forums, but I got cut short on time when writing that post. Props to you.

I'm a big fan of Fire Imp to, I figured other people would use him in Survival or aggro-prison, but no one else ever caught on to mini-Flametongue.

Altrough not technically useful by any means, I guess, this was a very exciting article. The "dredge primer" is certainly a pearl, and it even gave me some food for thought: why aren't people playing Wasteland nowadays? Is it because of spell's lower mana costs, or because of the large Needle count in the field? Between both hypothesis, the latter is more probable, IMHO.

Superb article, Doug. Great writing, solid content; well done.

Re: NMH. I listened to a few songs off Aeroplane about five years ago and didn't really "get it." Though the album was recommended by someone who turned me onto Sparklehorse's It's a Wonderful Life, which is one of my favorite albums ever made, so I'll have to give NMH another go.

Re: Best album of the 90s' [SCG forums], I'm comfortable giving it to OK Computer, my favorite by them is Kid A, which was from 2000, technically the end of the 90s', but OK is beyond brilliant and reminds me of such every time I listen to it.

Re: the 4c "Good Stuff" list. Man, oh man, this is why I love Legacy. That's one of the coolest decks I've ever seen. Maindeck Shackles, Tarmogoyf, Counterbalance, Bobby Mascara, Daze--so fucking nutty! The mana scares the piss out of me, however.

    Again, really sweet article.

I found this to be the statement I agree with most. It seems hard to justify playing a control deck when you have no clue what you will be playing against. Though if you can predict the metagame then perhaps control can be a good call. I guess all the Landstill players think so,

And earlier in this thread too.

    @Bardo:

OK Computer is a great album, but I still feel that The Bends is superior. Oh, and as I said at SCG, I also didn't "get" NMH when I tried them out.

    Ah well.
