Ok, so this is nothing major, but at the end of today's Devin Low-column (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/dl42) (I'm betting most of you don't read 'em hence why I'm bringing it up) there's a poll on which is your favourite format.

It may be of some use to go ahead and vote for Legacy (I predict most MTG.com readers are Standard-players making for a lopsided result if nobody outside the site votes there) just to show that Legacy-enthusiasts exist too, and in numbers. It may result in nothing, it may get us another GP, I don't know if the results really matter. However seeing that it costs you absolutely nothing to vote and there's a possibility of a beneficial outcome, please take a few seconds to make your opinion known there.

It’s no surprise that Standard is the winner, though it’s not a landslide. It’s interesting that the word “Vintage” here includes both hardcore “Mana Crypt / Black Lotus / Yawgmoth’s Will” Vintage tournament decks and casual Squirrel decks that want to play Sol Ring and Demonic Tutor just so they can get more Deranged Hermits and Squirrel Wranglers into play. It definitely makes me curious what proportion of the voters who picked “Vintage” are in each of those two categories

Kitchen players are on the Vintage side, since they can play casual decks with 1-of ultra-broken cards and it won't feel wrong. Anyways, that's how the casual people I know feel.

I am calling us #2, since casual doesn't really count. I completely doubt they (wizards) will do anything about this poll, though. Hopefully, they will give Legacy another GP because it is popular.

Screw this. Standard got over twice our votes. Its victory is no surprise, but that kind of an edge is kinda sad.

Also, some of the Vintage-voters seem to have a fucked-up logic. "Oh my god, they fucked up the B&R list and we're mad, let's vote for Vintage to be our favourite format so Wizards realizes how badly they effed up!" Seriously, what? And I heard it more than once too; if you vote Vintage into your favourite format, doesn't Wizard get the idea that you agree with the changes? I just don't get them.

You're looking at it wrong.

We beat Extended. Last year's Extended PTQ season was one of the most popular PTQ seasons ever. With Extended rotating, it becomes very likely that some type of competitive Legacy support will be in the works soon.

Additionally, there's a number of players that are "kitchen table" players that play Standard because they can always go down to their local FNM and pick up some games without needing to have a group to play with at an actual kitchen table and without having to worry about someone's deck being less fair than other people's decks.

It seems clear to me that Wizards should be focusing on Standard and Legacy as competitive formats, and then also focusing on Standard and Vintage as fun casual formats to support with their Grass Roots movement (you know, the one they're cutting a PT for because they need to focus on Joe Everyplayer).

I voted for Vintage because it's my favorite format. That's all there is to it. I don't necessarily agree with the most recent B/R list, but it's not going to make me pout and stomp my feet and vote for another format in protest. I think most Vintage players are on the same page. After the initial gut reaction, we have accepted it and are moving ahead with new innovations for the new metagame. Vintage rules. Suck it Legacy.
