Ahh, Mudhole, one of the worst cards ever printed.

This thread isn't here to discuss why it is terrible, but how, if the new Retrace cards make 43Lands or something similar the new Deck To Beat, then this card will actually be useful.

Now, I haven't tested the retrace cards yet in Loam decks. Raven's Crime seems powerful yet balanced, however, Worm's Harvest (sp) looks to potentially be amazing and game-breaking or bad and a 'win-more' card, along the lines of how people were excited about Swans.

Clearly, Mudhole is not a card that in any way currently warrents sideboard slots, let alone maindeck slots. However, I'm here to muse how it would be quite funny if one of the cards heralded as one of the worst cards ever printed was used as a hoser card for "The Best Deck in Legacy."

Odds are, Retrace will not lead to any true surge in Loam decks, but then again, there is no guarentee.

Leyline, Crypt, Planar Void, Yixlid Jailer, Extirpate, and some other cards I'm missing are all much more efficient forms of graveyard hate that are not incredibly narrow. Mudhole will always suck, no matter what, because even if a meta existed in which its effect would actually warrant SB slots, there are other cards that do the same thing and more.

Oh man, you're right. We should totally be removing all the land cards with an awful 3 mana instant, instead of simply removing the one retrace card, and every copy between hand, graveyard, and library with a super efficient, uncounterable one mana instant (http://magiccards.info/pc/en/71.html)

Incredible as all of you here have no humor sense.

Wait. Mudhole is an istant??? I thought it was a sorcery! Oh my god this thing is broken!!! People would play loam and we can just say "sure", and rip ALL THEIR LANDS FROM THE GRAVE. Mmmh loam for 0 (zero) lands. Good job dude.

The only thing I'm missing about it being an istant is that we can't Burning Wish into it, thus allowing 7 copies MD of this online from turn 3, when loam decks are just starting running. 7 copies would be really be broken. Wizards has finally doing its job in making it an istant.

You could just play a set of Chrome Moxen, Lotus Petals and Cunning Wishes. That would allow consistent turn 3 Mudholes with the occasional turn 2 Mudhole. I think we've just broken the format. When people start playing this Aggro Loam will VANISH from every meta because it's not viable anymore.

Wait, what? (In before Lockjob)

It's always amused me how Mudhole -- unlike, say, Pale Moon -- got a whole lot less completely shit as time went on. Still unplayable, though.

I dunno, Pale Moon is equally imbalanced.

Have you ever put Pale Moon on Iso?

It feels like cheating.
