I Hate calling it a Knight deck. But thats what it is.. This deck has essentially been MB for 3 years and I've recently been diddling around with adding White into it for Disenchant and Swords to Plowshares.

So far this is what I've come up with

The Pain

4x Black Knight - Best early game blocker - Protection from swords
3x Order of the Ebon Hand - Pump Knight - pro swords
3x Knight of Stromgald - Pump Knight - pro swords
3x Stromgald Crusader - Blocking those pesky flyers - pro swords
4x Dark Confidant - alot of 2cc as to not take much damage
2x Kimsbaine Cavalier - Adds double strike to the general population of my creatures

The Magic

4x Hymn to Tourach
2x Duress
2x Thoughtsieze
4x Dark Ritual - Mana accel. Makes black players happy.
4x Swords to Plowshares - When something Needs to die
2x Vindicate - For all your destruction needs.. 3cc is annoying to say the least

4x Umezawa's Jitte - Jitte kills jitte and jitte wins games. Makes the deck work...and kills the deck if an opponent sees one

The Landz0rs

4x Bloodstained Mire
4x Polluted Delta
1x Volrath's Stronghold - Becomes annoying when in the correct position
4x Scrubland
1x Plains
5x Swamp

Personal Sideboard

4x Dystopia - Honestly end up sideboarding in over 80% of the games due to tarmagoyf and peoples obsession with white
3x Engineered Plague - Not alot of goblins around but occasionally they pop up
4x Pithing Needle - Alot of things that kill the deck can be needled
3x True Believer - Combo Hate
3x Disenchant - Reason the deck isnt mono black

Normally I would post it under a MBA thread....but I've come to terms that most of the MBA aggro players don't like me around due to my choice of creatures....so I've resulted in making my own thread.

Alot of people bring up the fact that I have 8 Fetches in the deck + Dark Confidants. Honestly I believe its worth it to not get mana screwed in a game. When I ran 4 of them I had always gotten into the situation of drawing ALL of my land and no spells...so I added more fetches and it seemed to have taken care of the problem

I switched the creature base around a little when going from MB to BW. It used to be

4 Black knight
6 Pump Knights
2 Oona's Prowler
2 Deadgale Legate
4 Confidant

With the Prowler being the most useless of the bunch

Overall I believe the deck has potential...but it hasnt been fully achieved yet.

This deck does not seem competetive as of now.

your creatures are not that big. they need jitte to win.

With the current hype for EE your deck has a problem.

Also counterbalance seems to screw you over.

PS: when i saw the knights i figured you where playing some kind of haakon engine. is this not a good idea?

Haakon engine has been tried several times (use the search engine of the source and you'll find something). It has always been a failure.

Then again, the only creature they'll be Swords'ing is probably Dark Confidant anyway.

I hope some day, someone will make Haakon work. As soon as Nameless Inversion was spoiled I bought a playset for $6, they were going for close to $30 a few weeks later, then everyone realized it just wasn't getting there. Tis a shame, I guess he's just filed under "cool things" for now.

You know, a lot of people don't give the Knights the credit they still deserve. Last August, I took a random MBC take to a big Top 8 in Syracuse, and all it really had were Pump-Knights and a slew of Fallen Empires goodness. Protection from White and First Strike capabilities are quite underrated when you consider Swords is a primary solution to most stationary threats in the format.

They're also good against Oblivion Ring, obviously.

You should obviously run Shade, but running these guys aren't too bad a choice. It's just Counterbalance is everywhere right now and it's hard to resolve them once they go online with Top.

TO the OP...I know that pro white and first strike are underated...no matter where you post them people tend to critique them. And as for the shade issue, I've never actually run this list before..only playtested it a little bit.

The old creature list (when it was MB) was

4 Black Knight
6 Pumps
2 Oona's Prowler
2 Deadgale Legate (Everyone plays green in my meta..no goblins or anything)
4 Confidant

so to answer the reason why shade isnt in the deck. He dies too easily. Every removel spell known to man will kill a shade. His only real use is killing a tarmagoyf. With one of the first strike knights. You give it 1 mana and he is fine. With shade your required to pump 2-5 mana to keep him alive and are unable to play any other spells this turn.

And yes the Double Strike knight, in testing at least, has caused winning almost as much as jitte. Because he gives you alot of extra mana (not giving your guys first strike..its really only like 2 mana avg) to use for other abilities / spells....and the fact that if jitte is equipped you get 4 counters

(B/W)(B/W)(1)
2/1
(B/W) Firststrike / Flyer
(B/W) Pump
Pro White....Pro Black

Pro swords / smother / anything but WoG and burn

I'm probably going to replace the 2 Stromgald Crusaders in this list for 2 of those to test his potential and adding 1 Pump Knight of sorts. And I'll work on it from there...He is good..but he is also 3 mana.

I thought I was going to be immediately hated out of the forums for my silly knights idea like I am everywhere else

Edit: OP agian.... If they successfully get out counterbalance+top then your probably going to lose preboard...

If they successfully chalice for 2...you lose (less now than before...but you lose none the less)

To chalice you could run something like Engineered Explosives or Powder Keg (play it before they chalice)....

And the top counterbalance thing can Somewhat be taken care of with a disenchant and a needle.

The decks main weakness is burn...and chalice.

Looks to me like there arnt enough threats in the deck.

And why would you run nameless inversion over something like Smother? Inversion makes goyf bigger and dosnt kill as many things.

And Haakon can be good if you have an efficient way to get him in the yard...but it seems like it would be alot better if you took out some of the discard and added some creatures to get around 18-or-so and switch out the nameless inversions for smothers....and play a different list....

And why would you run nameless inversion over something like Smother? Inversion makes goyf bigger and dosnt kill as many things.

Because with Haakon, you can play Nameless Inversion over and over again from your 'yard.

Okay got me there. Didn't think about that.

But with no real way of finding Haakon it just dosnt seem like it would be consistant.

1st thought: meekstone belongs to the deck. Unless you hope that wrath-effects will do the job.
2d thought: mask of memory seems not bad for discarding Haakaon.
3d thought: extirpate is a pain like any grave-hate is. Also opposing recuring is pain (rock, ichorid), so using extirpate maindeck is not pointless.
4th thought: chains of mephistophelis? (+ anvil of b.) seems interesting.
