This post got me thinking.

A problem is that playing a HHHHH card with both colours being splashes involves five dual lands. Which kinda goes against the whole "Thou shalt not needlessly make a mockery of thy manabase" commandment.

It would be funny at the very least to hear what everyone thinks should be a commandment. Hell you could even turn it into a fun adept question.

Hey, yeah. Also, we could bash our testicles with heavy rocks, which are jagged.

Hmmm, I'm intrigued, go on...

EDIT: That was code for I have to agree, some of them might be kinda good, and others will just be lame. Not only that with such a wide card pool, to make broad sweeping statements seems kinda silly. (Brainstorm should be played in every deck that can play blue)

Thou shall not play creatures with a negative casting cost to power ratio unless they have really frigging amazing abilities.

Thou shall not make your deck do ten jigabillion combos.

Thou shall not fall prey to the cool combo syndrome.

Thou shall not bash on the Moss Monster.

if your playing green, and your game plan includes turning men sideways to win, your playing 4 tarmogoyfs

I don't know if this should be a rule. There's just far too many exceptions.

Just off the top of my head.

Elves and Slivers don't. I don't recall Meathooks playing 4 Goyfs. Most UG Madness lists don't seem to play Goyf. A lot of goblin lists splash green and they sure aren't playing Goyfs.

The Rock doesn't usually play Goyf. Rock variants like that deck that played dredge creatures and krosan tuskers doesn't play goyfs.

Goyf doesn't seem to be all that hot in 9 land stompy either.

How about thou shalt not overgeneralize?

Srsly though:

Thou shalt do thine own playtesting.
Thou shalt take everything posted on the Source at face value.
Thou shalt think for thy self.

^^ Winner.

Is there any reason to leave this open?

When suggesting a card for a deck, thou shalt either first test it or state a convincing argument for why it is better than a specific card from the deck.

I think you proved my point, someone already pointed out that this isn't always the case if you are playing a green deck that turns men sideways. Broad generalizations shouldn't be finding a home in Legacy. Maybe you should look at the context.

I can see where this is going. Sockmonkey's excellent snide comments for the win.
