Hi guys, I just joined this forum because I liked the legacy format a lot. This is the 1st legacy deck I created utilizing Standstill to gain hand advantage to push more threats and Aether Vial as a source of tempo. I've had some success with this deck with good match-ups against Thresh. (I'm also known as Wildspeaker over at MTGsalvation)
Creatures (16)
4 Cursecatcher
4 Lord of Atlantis
4 Merrow Reejerey
4 Silvergill Adept
Spells (26)
4 Swords to Plowshares
4 Standstill
2 Aquitect's Will
2 Sensei's Diving top
3 Counterbalance
4 Force of Will
4 AEther Vial
2 Umezawa Jitte
1 Thirst for Knowledge
Land (18)
4 Flooded Strains
4 Tundra
4 Mutavault
5 Snow-Covered Island
1 Snow-Covered Plains
Sideboard (15)
2 Misdirection
2 Hydroblast
4 Stifle
3 Vedalkan Shackles
4 Pithing Needle
I'll be glad if someone is willing to test this deck in a larger legacy meta unlike my place.

Daze in the SB is nonsense. It belongs MD, although it's a wierd choice for a standstill list, it's normally not run.
Why no CB? I think that would seem like a decent choice. Brainstorm too, come to think of it. Why isn't that in here?
I've gotta go to work again or I'd look deeper into it, but for now...

I agree with Daze as I seldom have the need to sb it. The reason I include it is because I can turn my deck into a complete control deck if I'm against combo.
The exclusion of brainstorm is well..I can't find space for it and plenty of time I feel that having standstill is enough and is not right for this deck.
As for counterbalance, that card would work wonder with SDT which I think would have me taken off quite a few impt cards to dedicate the slot and I don't think it fits in the deck though. Not sure, may need testing with cb built.
Thanks for the input. (Made appropriate changes)

White splash is probably not worth.
Check this thread in general:
http://mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8158
I advise you to test one of these lists:
http://mtgthesource.com/forums/showpost.php?p=232776&postcount=133
The best list I tested is probably this one (it's an optimisation of the last one in the previous post):
http://mtgthesource.com/forums/showpost.php?p=245641&postcount=161
But I did not test the eventide merfolks, even if I still doubt of their use.
Good news, merfolk is very good in the current general metagame!

Thanks for the links. I'm trying out the new modified deck with CB though. I feel W is good for just one card, STP. It helps me in a lot of situations. I'll still try the UW build though, to see how it goes.
