Well, I'm a control player, but I don't feel like buying/ playing Landstill, but I still want to play Uwb control. This is the list that I've drafted, and it's quite possibly horrible:
Lands: 20
Islands x4
Tundra x3
Underground Sea x3
Polluted Delta x4
Flooded Strand x4
Swamp x1
Plains x1
Creature Control: 7
Swords to Plowshares x4
Vedalken Shackles x3
Win Conditions: 8
Bitterblossom x3
Hoofprints of the Stag x3
Ajani Goldmane x2
Disruption: 12
Thoughtseize x4
Counterbalalnce x4
Force of Will x4
Card Advantage: 13
Sensei's Divining Top x3
Brainstorm x4
Impulse x3
Fact or Fiction x3
Card choices:
StP, Shackles: they hurt agro. (DISCLAIMER: this is speculation) These, along with the life gain from Ajani should be enough to hold off agro.
Win conditions: they're constant, recursive, and Ajani has multipule uses.
Disruption:
Thoughtseize: Thoughtseize takes Krosan Grips pre-emptively and disrupts combo on the play. There really isn't a better turn one play for the deck, save against agro, so having to fetch a U. Sea first turn isn't a problem, it just depends on the MU.
Counterbalance: Eh balances counters and doesn't afraid of anything. It's card advantage, it's a soft lock, it's duh.
Force of Will: Eh wills forces and duh. It's a staple.
Card Advantage:
Sensei's Divining Top: Goes with counterbalance and filters draws.
Brainstorm: Staple.
Impulse: It's strong dig and has synergy with Counterbalance.
Fact or Fiction: Card Advantage and has lte game synergy with CB.
They just kinda all fit. Every card fits a role and meshes with the other cards that serve overlaping purposes. The only things that concern me are the creature control elements and the win-conditions. The lack of Wrath of God concerns me, but the only way I see fitting them in is cutting ack on the threats, which, while viable, needs to be tested. The deck is just a draft, no testing behind it, but I'll get to that when I can contact the rest of the team and have a proxy session.
