This is a deck i came up with. i couldn't think of a name for it, but that doesnt really matter. i'm new to the source, but i have seen some really good decks on this site so i decided to post my deck here. this deck has done really well in tournaments so here it is...

3 ohran viper
2 eternal witness
2 kitchen finks
2 watchwolf
2 true believer
1 harmonic sliver
1 exalted angel
1 eternal dragon

1 umezawa's jitte
1 sword of fire and ice

So that's it. tell me what you think.

someone said something about alot of the random cards in there. in my town thats how we play and were abviously good because one of my friends placed 1st in a 100 person tournament in l.a. and with this deck i made it beats him all of the time.

in this deck there isnt a lot of draw and i dont really have seemed to mind it
the ohran viper can smetimes draw but they also block and alot of times people will be afraid of that more than goyf so they will swords that over goyf and then ill have a 4/5 or 5/6 or something open for attack

the life from the loam is in there as a 1 of because u can use it to get volrath and it also helps generate mana because most of the time i get it in my opening hand and play it turn 2. then on turn 3 i dredge it and then usually play a goyf and swords so by turn 4 i can swing in with goyf for 3 or 4. also i like volrath, loam and eternal witness. u can loam until u get volrath then play volrath ese eternal to get back a creature aor vindicate or something that you need and then block with eternal if need be and then if eternal dies put it on top with eternal then get back something again so on and so forth

with the 1 death grasp my friend recommended putting it in and it is good. i usually do get alot of mana with this deck so i can usually use it a finisher. its also good for me because most people that i play in my town play maze of ith so it is a good finisher and it can also gain u like and possiply kill a creature taht might kill you.

ok the circle of protection red is because i play against alot alot alot of burn, goblins, and red/green aggro. the true beliver are cool bcus they r 2 drops that are a 2/2 and have a kool ability. they cant make u discard and they r really affective against combo decks like tendrils, brainfreeze, and belcher. and like i said there a 2/2 with a cool ability.

ok now to some possible opening hands. first turn pop a fetch for a bayou then play duress. then next turn play goyf or loam. third turn you could play viper or kitchen finks. you could also play a removal spell like vindicate or deed.

so there it is. sorry for not writing out a whole thing to begin with.please write!!!

This deck resembles the Goyf Control deck I build the moment Goyf was spoilerd. People think it's crap at the first look, however it got me to a top4 finish last Source Tournament, so I guess it isn't utterly crap :)

I'll post the list for reference, please note I haven't updated it for over half a year, but the list still kicks ass.

Mana:
4 Bayou
4 Scrubland
2 Savannah
4 Windswept Heath
2 Polluted Delta
3 Wasteland
2 Swamp
1 Forest
1 Plains

Creatures:
4 Tarmogoyf
4 Dark Confidant
2 Mystic Enforcer

Others:
4 Swords to Plowshares
3 Pernicious Deed
3 Vindicate
3 Duress
3 Funeral Charm
3 Reanimate
2 Engineered Explosives
2 Pithing Needle
2 Seal of Primordium
1 Krosan Grip
1 Extirpate

SB:
4 Engineered Plague
3 Orim's Chant
2 Sacred Ground
2 Extirpate
2 Krosan Grip
1 Duress
1 Pithing Needle

First thing about your deck: You really need some drawing power. I know Ohran Viper gets you cards when it connects, however I know I would direct my swords to him over Tarmogoyf. Besides, in this format filled with creatures, there are bound be be blockers. I'd look for some other ways to draw cards.

Why the random Life from the loam? If you decide to play it, make sure you use it as an engine. There are no cycle lands in there, and if you only play it to secure Volrath's Stronghold, that's just too random. There are people better in math than me on this site, but I can already tell you the chances of drawing both singletons is pretty slim. If you run into mana-problems often, just play more land. 21 including Stronghold and fetch isn't really a lot in my opinion.

I also wonder about the random Death Grasp. This deck isn't going to generate a lot of mana, so why would you want to play it? You already play Exalted Angel, Jitte and Kitchen Finks for lifegain, which I doubt you really need anyway in this deck. Want to give the finishing blow to an opposing Goyf? Use Funeral Charm or Darkblast instead, both are cheaper and more diverse. For giving the finishing blow to an opponent, your creatures are good enough. Play a good creature instead.

And finally a question about your sideboard. What are you so afraid of with all the True Believers and Circle of Protections? If your affraid of combo, play Orim's Chant instead. It's even solid agains aggro (sometimes at least :)) I've never seen any combo deck which has had any problems with Believers. A goodly timed Chant however, can ruin them hard. Burn can simply burn it away, and continue after that.

Same goes for the Circles. Are you affraid of Golbins? Use Engineered Plague, it's also usefull against decks like Elves, Breakfast, Ichorid and even combo (Empty the Warrens).

And my last suggestion: Use some Extirpates! Those things are good against almost everything. Besides, decks like this can survive a whole lot, except recurring strategies. Getting hosed by Explosives each turn will lose you the game.

EDIT: This deck should be moved to development indeed. At least untill the creator writes a good primer for the deck and shows the succeses he has made with it.
