Pernicious Deed and Chameleon Colossus

I'm debating with my friend that it doesn't kill Colossus, but I can be very wrong since it's a global effect. Does Pernicious Deed kill Chameleon Colossus?

If you pay 4 or more for X it will.

Protection from THING does 4 things; Prevent all damage by THING sources, cannot be equipped/enchanted/fortified by THINGs, cannot be blocked by THING, and cannot be targeted by THING. Pernicious Deed does none of these.

If they choose a value of 4 or more for X, then yes.

Why wouldn't it? It doesn't Damage, Enchant (ie creature enchantment), Block (in combat), or Target the Colossus (DEBT, those are things Protection "protects" a card from).
