I played an Engineered Plague naming "elf". My opponent then plays say an Elvish Champion which gives all other elves +1/+1. He then plays a Llanowar Elf.
What happens to the Llanowar Elf, i.e., how do these two effects interact here? Thanks.

Er... they simply cancel out. Elf is 1/1.
However if your opponent plays a second Plague, Champion will die and so will the rest.

Stuff like layers don't even enter into it. Whatever the order of effects in this case, it'll be a 1/1 when SBE's are checked, and that's all that matters.

Uh, layers is how you figure out that it's a 1/1. Your calculation, implicitly or explicitly, depends on layers. In this case, they both apply in 6d.

Elficidium is right, and you're being disingenuous.
Layers are irrelevant to to the result.

Erm... what?! As soon as multiple continuous effects are affecting the same object, the Layer system is applied.

The fact that you get the same answer either order you apply the effects doesn't change the fact that it uses layers. Also, I don't think that word means what you think it does. Pedantic? Yes. Disingenuous not so much.
