Just making sure I got this right: someone I know said Suppression Field makes Dredge cost 2 mana to use. I don't think this is true because Suppression Field increases the cost of activated abilities and Dredge is a static ability.

502.47a Dredge is a static ability that functions only while the card with dredge is in a player's graveyard. "Dredge N" means "As long as you have at least N cards in your library, if you would draw a card, you may instead put N cards from the top of your library into your graveyard and return this card from your graveyard to your hand."

Am I correct? I need to make sure, because I'm trying to build a sideboard

dredge is a static ability, this is completely different than an activated ability (have you EVER seen dredge go on the stack?!)
If you had to pay 2X to dredge you shoudl also pay 4WW to unmorph your exalted angel

ps, did you meet this person on mws...?

He's a friend of mine IRL, I respect him. That's why I got doubts

Now I've got something to rub in

Unmorphing is different, it's a special action like drawing a card or ending the effect of Lost in Thought.

Dredge is a replacement effect.

Replacement effects are granted by static abilities. I don't know if this is the general case, but I can't remember of one that isn't.

Uh, anything can create replacement effects, including activated abilities (eg regenerative activated abilities, the Words cycle) and triggered abilities (eg regenerative triggered abilities, Toshiro Umezawa).

Dredge is a replacement effect.
It also is a static ability.

It also is a static ability.

Actually, if you look at the comprehensive rules, you can conclude it is a static ability which leads to a replacement effect.

Thanks all for clearing this up, by the way

And that's why I shouldn't try to remember things, since I'm never able to.
