Sanctioned or unsanctioned

I am debating on holding Legacy Tournaments? Does sanctioning matter to you?

That's the nut of it. If there were a local Legacy tournament, I would attend regardless (assuming my schedule was free). Being sanctioned would just be a non-material perk.

Notice where am I and can not attend your tournament. But since the tournament I go to has shit prizes yes, the sanctioning is the reason to go. I am ranked 93rd in the US and 100th in North America...I do it for the ratings/(chicks).

Hypothetically, two tournaments being equal except for 1 is sanctioned and 1 isn't (and they're on different days so it's possible to attend both, and assume I have money to attend both), it's entirely possible I wouldn't go to the unsanctioned one, making up an excuse not to go (would rather spend the time doing something else, would rather spend the money on something else, etc). Chances are I'd go to both, but if I were to go to one and not the other, it's highly likely I'd attend the sanctioned one (keep in mind sanctioning it gives an incentive to the people running it to "run a tight ship" so to speak).

Yes. Definitely sanctioned. I'd probably attend a non-sanctioned tournament, regardless, as long as the prizes are good. But I prefer sanctioned tournaments.

Yeah, I would be up around 1900 and 35 events if the dick smacks would report everything but I'll keep coming back. The truth of it is my meta is weak as hell and the prizes suck, I need something to keep me entertained and competing against.

Wait a minute! Are you telling me that if your tournament is sanctioned WotC provides you with extra boosters to give out?

If that is the case since the stores I play at give out almost nothing then this is totally shady!

Boosters, no. But they have been giving promo foils out to stores for a few years now, and now supposedly any TO should be able to get them through Wizards Play Network.

Sanctioned would make me much more inclined to go.
Even if it was just because the DCI Tourney thing makes pairings and records so much easier to manage.

I am 10th in Ohio, with I think an 1857 Eternal though, so I actually started to pay attention.

Basically the reason I am doing this is because I came into a F'in mint Beta Trop, played unl, Emerald and a mint Workshop and wanted to do something. I may just do something with Off The Wall.

I prefer sanctioned tournaments. My FNM is legacy, so i can get free FNM cards each week to sell for my tournament entry money in addition to free textless stuff. I don't really give a shit about my rating.

My store gives a free fnm card to the youngest player as an incentive for kids to come i guess, but it so happens that all the regulars besides me are like 25 plus, so at 17 i get a free card every week regardless of how i place. :cool:
