Here it is:

Active player controls both black Enchants. NonActive controls an Elf Warrior token, the green enchant, and a critter with a -1/-1 counter on it.

APlayer CAshes triggers, killing a critter with a -1/-1 counter on it. Then his Blowfly triggers, putting a -1/-1 counter on Elf Warrior Token.

Flourishing Defenses triggers, putting a token in play. Blowfly triggers putting a counter on that token.... um, rinse repeat? What did I mess up here? Loop? UGH! My head hurts. Someone make it clear.

theres no loop

in slow-mo

Crumbling ashes trigger, targetting a random guy
ashes resolves, an d creature dies, bowfly infestation triggers
Bowfly infestation resolves, you drop a coutner on a X/1 guy and it dies, both defences and bowfly trigger now
triggers are put onto the stack, Bowfly first, defence second
Now that the bowfly is on the stack you have to give it a target, which can't possibly be a 1/1 elf the defence produces as that triggered ability is still on the stack

(There is a loop by the way, since there's a second creature in play in this situation).

The key here to remember is that targets are chosen when abilities are put onto the stack, so you can never target the new 1/1 with the Blowfly Infestation.

Triggers are put onto the stack APNAP order, so in this case Blowfly Infestation will go on the stack before Flourishing Defenses (and Defenses will resolve first).

The part to know is, let's say you have 2 1/1 creatures out and one of them gets Scarred. AP kills one with BI, which lets AP kill another and also lets NAP make a 1/1. This is a loop, but it doesn't draw the game. Eventually the Flourishing Defenses player (since it's optional) has to choose to not make a 1/1.

Damn! I didn't even notice the "may." That would have solved much of the issue on Sunday's tourney.
