This scenario is being tossed around over in the Dragon Stompy thread.

I have a Rakdos Pit Dragon(RPD) and no cards in my hand. The RPD has a Sword of Fire and Ice(SoFI) equip to it. I swing with the RPD and he is un-blocked, first strike damage resolves and the SoFI triggers drawing me a card.

The question is; Now that RPD is no longer Hellbent, will it still deal normal combat damage?

No. In the first strike combat damage phase (assuming there is one), every creature with double strike and first strike will deal damage. Then in the regular damage phase, every creature that has not dealt combat damage this turn and every creature with double strike will deal combat damage.

From the Dissension FAQ;
If Rakdos Pit Dragon loses double strike after first strike combat damage has been assigned, it won't deal damage during the normal combat damage step.
