Hey there, I received this email today, from email address mtgsadmin@gmail.com:
"Your passwords may have been compromised.
It was discovered by a user who passed the info on to staff. I suggest changing your pass as soon as possible.
If you have any issues with this, please email me at _______(deleted for privacy)
Is this bullshit, or what? I don't see anything on the site about it. Let me know ASAP please; thanks.
I received this email too. Anyone else? How much BS is it filled with?

MTGS is MTG Salvation. Apparently one of their users browsed a hacker forum and found lists of names/passwords that were similar to ones used on Salvation.
See this Salvation thread (http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=132527) It's probable that JACO has a Salvation account as well. AvatarofKokusho, the Salvation mod, sent out that email to everyone from MTGS with an account.
I sent JACO a PM pointing him to MTGSalvation.

It's apparently mostly paypal and ebay passwords so a p/w change is probably advised to be safe if you have an mtgs account.

Changed my MWS PW, but I use different PWs for most of my accounts.

Personally, I wouldn't trust any email coming from a gmail/hotmail/yahoo account instead of from the site directly (admin@mtgsalvation.com or whatever) unless you know for a fact that's how they do it.
Like PR said, just ensure you have different usernames/passwords for different accounts. Personally, all of my message board accounts have basically the same log in and password, if someone wants to be a troll posting as me, whatever, that's a lot different than someone wanting a couple grand out of my Bank Account or from my Credit Card through PayPal.
It only takes a couple seconds of half-assedness to lose stuff, vigilence is key.

Well, the thread I posted has a post by the mod who sent the e-mails. So I guess it did come from an MTGS source. Not trusting a mail coming from random free accounts is logical; but this e-mail warns you, so it seems logical to look into it.

Right, I mean, if I got an email from MTGTheSourceAdmin@hotmail.com saying "Please login and change your password" I'd be suspicious.
