The Counterspell is awesome... but the FoF art? I'm sorry, but Terese Nielsen's art is so much better than that one. Either way, I'm going to get a playset of those Counterspells and FoFs.

Demonfire... really? I thought blaze was bad in burn decks.

Maybe Chandra's deck runs a playset of Urza Tron or Cloudposts... ?

Or a shitload of artifact mana with Wildfire :) I love it how Chandra doesn't get affected by it.
The inclusion of both FoF and Counterspell makes me believe they won't make the decks Standard or even Extended legal.

It's been known for quite some time that the decks wouldn't be T2 legal.

The counterspell is absolutely gorgeous. Too bad they'll probably jack up the price of the decks just like with what happened with the From the Vault: Dragons.

Chandra herself has an awesome new pic. Really makes me wish she were playable.

@ art:  I CAME
I really hope these decks are actually decent, with 3-4 copies of cards like Incinerate and Counterspell rather than janky pre-con crap, full of 1-ofs.

The Counterspell art is very nice, but am I the only one who thinks the Jace art is awful? He looks more like Mr. Freeze than a planeswalker.

I think both those new planeswalkers arts are awful compared to the Briclot art.
Counterspell, Incinerate, and Seal of Fire are the best of the bunch.
Oh yea, and frogboy is sooo right. Demonfire was amazing on soooo many levels back in Ravnica. The card was made for luck sacks. I'm one of them :P

OMG! Those counterspells and fact or fiction look sick. Too bad the rest of the cards are unplayable. :-(

I played Urzatron back in Ravnica Standard and Demonfire won me many of games I probably shouldn't have... well... demonfire and wildfire.
Is it just me or does the Jace pictured in the Counterspell art look like a full season 3 priest from world of warcraft?

I played Rakdos. I'm sure you know how that goes.
I remember there was one game where my opponent played LSV control perfectly against me. I was completely dob and topdecking land after land. He drops a morph, obviously ready to lock me out next turn. Top deck Demonfire, count my lands, dome for 7 exact. Lol sign that slip.

So you only have to buy 1 box? Do you really think Wizards would do that?

I dunno. They've gotten a lot better with the precons recently.

Jace looks rather anime, especially his hair. Very child oriented. I don't like so much. But when he's got his on it's so bamf. Chandra too.

Good point. More realistically, I'm hoping for 2-ofs, rather than 1-ofs. I think we CAN expect Wizards to do that, to guaruntee some sales. I'd buy 2 boxes, but not 4.

If you're thinking it's going to full of three- and four-ofs, think again. The closest release to this in terms of structure is most likely Elves versus Goblins, and those decks were filled with lots of one- and two-ofs, with few three-ofs and no four-ofs.

They are marketing these as a product for "Expert Level" players (if I remember correctly), which sets it apart from Elves vs. Goblins - maybe that could mean they will have more 3s and some 4s to appeal more to that crowd... but most likely not.

They're duel decks. Just like Elves vs. Goblins. Don't get your hopes up.

Yeah, just dreaming. I guess that's all the new artwork too. They're initial advertisement said we would get six cards with new art, so counting Jace and Chandra I think that's all six. Not that I'm complaining, I really like that FoF in particular, but it would have been nice to see a sexy new Brainstorm.

Fail for new borders. The art is decent, though.
I really like the Counterspells. Might pick up a set.

That Fact or Fiction Art is Awesome!!!!!
Just look at how it welly characterizes the card real good. Then again we must ask "are they really going to make the whole thing Legacy Legal?"
Fact or Fiction and Counterspell are no longer Extended Legal as well as a few other cards they might slab on in there. Then we have to question if they are going to reprint Force of Will or Daze?
Along side those good cards, are they really going to stick in Lightning Bolt or Fireblast somewhere in there? or are they going to exclude those powerful cards and keep the costs high on those are the Force of Wills for the time being?

I've always had a soft spot for Quicksilver Dragon, new art on that would be cool.
Any chance of getting foil Facts, Counterspells, and Seals with this art on it?

And risk appealing to the Legacy community? No chance in hell.

According to this post (http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showpost.php?p=3316609&postcount=612), there will be new-frame Fireblasts in the red deck.
Now the question is: does any Legacy deck actually play Fireblast?

Yeah, all burn decks and also boros and sligh decks.

So, the decklists aren't public? I'm guessing, but Wizards site is such shite, they might be there any I can't find them.
Anyway, of all of their innumerable reprints of CSpell, this is by far the sexiest:
http://www.wizards.com/mtg/images/daily/arcana/1700_counterspell.jpg
I vaguely recall an FNM CSpell being pretty cool, but I don't like foils and I hate those ugly FNM stamps.
http://www.wizards.com/mtg/images/daily/arcana/1700_factorfiction.jpg
Also, while not the most stunning piece of art, it's a head above Nielsen's shitty FoF from Invasion. Oh, look, Squee can't read a map (or something) with Hanna looking on. Awesome spell, terrible art.
In the Cavotta version, I like how the mage is holding the two spells in his hand and dropping three others. Cool touch; not great, but decent art.
I'm assuming you'll need to buy two of these packs to get playsets of the good cards, but though I won't bother if FoF is a 1-of.

Lists are up (http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/11).
Only one FoF, but there's also a one-of Daze and Gush in Jace's deck. I'm contemplating picking up four now, but probably not unless I can get them cheap.

They finally lifted that "PTQ limit" <handclaps>.
A sign that they want to be on good terms with us. I also see they are truely passing it off to the casual crowd by slipping in a sole copy of gush in that Jace prototype.
Thankfully, no Force of Will, no Lightning Bolts, nor a Brainstorm in sight.
But hey there are two Fireblasts which should keep the some of the costs down on those cards when it comes to building that Red Sligh deck.
Now it leaves us with the question "what are they going to come up with next?"
White versus Black?

I'll pick up a set just for the Seal of Fire alone. That's a nice one. The two foil planeswalkers are nice also. I do play a little standard. Not to mention, I'm starting to have a lot of respect for Jace. In any deck that you can protect him in, he's one heck of a draw engine. He's starting to make me want to play him in Legacy considering how good he is in Standard and I bet he's a lot easier to protect in Legacy.

Right, after all, they're not in this to make money by producing products that appeal to me. Silly Wizards.
Gush was a nice suprise though. Otherwise...new borders, mediocre cards...no thanks.

I would recommend the The Epic Control - Deck to you.
It was quite one of the first Legacy Decks that tried to abuse Jace.
Nevertheless its a bit outdatet. Just look for it in the Established Decks Forum.

In any deck that you can protect him in, he's one heck of a draw engine.I've been pushing for Jace in blue-based control decks for a while now. I've always found him absolutely amazing at doing what he is suppose to do. He almost single-handedly wins control mirrors, and is one of the best cards to see after you have stabilized and put yourself into topdeck mode.

This should be able to tone down the price on those two planeswalkers and a few of the other cards that are already in circulation.
A nice way to grab add a few Legacy players to the pool.
I'm gonna get one of each so I can replace some cards in the cube with ones that have new border/art.
And I can just randomly shuffle up and play with it for like 5 minutes between rounds of drafts. One of my friend has 2 portal constructed decks, and playing those decks against each other is actually tons of fun, and it's probably the only matchup that you wished you had more Sacred Nectars.

So this will lower Jace from $6 to $5? This will "grab add" a ton of new Legacy players.
