View Full Version : Mws - Soa
I can't seem to get SOA on MWS. I tried dling it from the site and it seemed to have worked but I go to Workstation and get nothing. I haven'd downloaded a set in a while so I may have forgotten how to do it. Any help?

I downloaded the file in that link, but when I tried to use it in MWS I got the message "unsupported file type". Do I need to download some other file to use it?
Edit: My current problem is not having any sets PRIOR to time spiral, not needing new sets, by the way.
For some reason I get shivers every time I see this thread. SOA is short for Sexuel Overdraagbare Aandoening (Sexual transmitable Desise) in Dutch.
First time I saw it, I thought there was some kind of virus on MWS

From the linked page:
2. Unpack masterbase. RAR is an archiver similar to ZIP (but with much better comression). You'll need WinRAR (http://www.rarlabs.com/), 7zip or any other program which can unpack RAR archives.
3. Replace Master.mwBase and Data\Sets.dat files in the MWS folder with the new ones. Make sure to replace both files.
In other words, install WinRAR, open the file with WinRAR, copy the files out of the RAR file into the Magic Workstation directory, then you should be all set.

If you need a site for Hi-Res Scans, this is the site I use, Shards of Alara are ready for download:

This links to a few versions, most of which you need to pay for. Would a graphic-only WinRAR be sufficient? (as opposed to graphic and command line?)

This isn't that hard...
http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar380.exe
OR
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm ----> WinRAR 3.80
It's a trial version, which nags you after 30 days if you open it again, which you probably wont.

Sorry, I'm a tad computer anti-savvy. Problem solved, however. Thanks.

7-Zip is free and the best damn compression utility out there (at least for Windows).
WinRAR's user interface is generally superior to 7zip, both in the program itself and its Windows integration.
7zip is a great free alternative, though.
I bet having instructions for updating MWS would be a useful sticky. I know that I go grasping for a site every 3 months.
