Hello!

My name is Raphaël Caron and I'm kind of new to the Legacy format. I used to play Vintage but, having moved to Montreal, I find it easier to play Legacy here, as there are far more tournaments and a bigger community.

Of course, my first attempt was to transfer my pet deck, Parfait, to the format. With the great new white cards printed in the recent expansions, I thought it was possible to play a Parfait-esque deck in all formats. However, losing the Tax/Rack engine was painful. In old extended, I built a deck around Endless Horizons and Goblin Charbelcher, with Scepter/Chant as the backup plan. I've been playing this deck for the last two months, and here's the latest version :

Endless Belcher
October 30th

12x Plains
4x Plateau
4x Sacred Foundry
1x Mistveil Plains

4x Runed Halo
2x Endless Horizons
2x Blood Moon

1x Lotus Petal
4x Prismatic Lens
2x Isochron Scepter
3x Goblin Charbelcher
2x Sensei’s Divining Top

4x Enlightened Tutor
3x Orim’s Chant
4x Swords to Plowshares

4x Wrath of God

4x Flickerwisp

Sideboard :

1x Ghostly Prison
2x Firespout
1x Relic of Progenitus
2x Wheel of Sun and Moon
1x Chalice of the Void
1x Pyrostatic Pillar
1x Rack and Ruin
2x Aura of Silence
4x Burnout

It works well, but I need to refine the sideboard. Comments?

Too many horizons and belchers, not enough control. I don't really find horizons to be a good card for this format. One lotus petal confuses me too.

Cool! I remember reading your articles on TMD about Parfait. Welcome!

EDIT: Flickerwisp? Isn't there something better than that?

You splashed for...2 Blood Moon in the MD, and a bunch of junk in the SB. Why?

You have Wrath. You don't need Firespout. You have Chant, which is better than Pyro Pillar against combo. Disenchant is more flexible than Rack and Ruin and is cheaper (pretty sure that you NEED 2 targets for R+R, not postitive). Burnout is bad in comparison to REB and Pyroblast btw.

I think you could seriously get away with throwing City of Traitors and Ancient Tomb in your deck. This makes Chalice@1 faster. It ramps you into Wrath a turn earlier. It makes Belcher able to drop by turn 2. It goes on. Flickerwisp sucks.

I'm sorry If I come off as mean, but this needs some serious tweaking.

Parfait is probably going to be next to impossible to port to legacy. Your best bet if you want to rock red and white is go for some sort of rifter variation or something.

You should take a look at The Mighty Quinn. Its white based control with scepter/chant and belcher/horizons (but they switched to painter combo ;)).

Flickerwisp is a great card. First of all, it's a Flying 3/1 for 1WW. Never dead. Its ability shines vs Chalice, planeswalkers, Moxes, Powder Keg... anything with counters on. It's also great to reset Halo and Scepter, or to remove a pesky permanent preventing me from winning i.e Needle on Charbelcher.

I prefer Burnout over REB or Pyro because it allows me to play Chalice at 1 without bad synergy. I can also imprint it on Scepter and use it on any spell being cast to draw cards.

I'm not using non-Plains cards in order to maximize Horizons effectiveness as a combo piece.

Thank you for your comments!
