Art supplies for altering cards?

I posted this question in the altered art thread, but that's probably the wrong place for it. So I'm wondering what are the types of paint and brands and everything that you good card alterers use to paint a card and seal it? I've been wanting to alter a few of my own, but I don't know what to get to start.

Most art supplies are pricey so I don't want to get some and then figure out that it's not going to do the job.

I have flipped through probably a third of it (15 pages or so) but haven't seen it yet. I suppose I can do that since I at least know there is an answer there. It's a pretty long thread to go through if you don't that there is an answer waiting for you.

I use Golden Liquid Acrylics. I don't recommend wasting your money on cheap student grade stuff, or heavy body acrylics. The Golden Liquid Acrylics are worth the extra money, as are better (think mid grade golden takylon) brushes.

o__0 wow, I use Golden Liquid Acrylics and the white covers VERY well, only like ~3 coats.

Paint it, then manipulate with the brush to get it even, then it
dries by picking up the card and waving it around for a few seconds.
Repeat.

I used to use normal acrylics and found that liquid is MUCH better.
They dry faster (thats good and bad) and they stay EXTREMELY thin.
