This is a complete bastard of an exercise program and very likely to help those of us who still from time to time forget what they Topped or Brainstormed three seconds ago.
More info:
The guys who created this based it on this study: http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2008/04/25/0801268105.abstract by Jaegger. I guess it's time to replace Brain Age for my DS.
If you just want to give this a try on the web without downloading there's a javascript version of the n-back puzzle available here: http://dual-n-back.com/nback.html
Wired Article with some more details (and sensationalism) about this. http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2008/04/smart_software
I'm wondering if anyone is working on a homebrew for it. Any volunteers to work with me on it? I have too much free time for a comp sci student.
Some wiki info:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluid_intelligence fluid intelligence.
Found this from the Free Gamer Blog -- http://freegamer.blogspot.com/ has some pretty good stuff.
