Guile vs. Shrapnel Blast

I think I already know the answer to this, but I wanted to ask to be sure.

I have a Guile in play and my opponent plays a shrapnel blast.

I counter the shrapnel blast and Guile's ability triggers, removing it from the game and I can "play it without paying its mana cost." Shrapnel blast has an additional cost of "sacrifice an artifact."

If I don't have any artifacts in play, I can't play the shrapnel blast, right?

Correct. Guile only says you don't have to pay mana costs. You still have to pay all other costs that it might have.
