marking cards with blacklite pen

ok I tested this idea on cards from beta all the way to shards

I used a blacklite pen to mark a symbol on each card

you can not see the mark with the naked eye

only see it with a black light (I have a small one like a laser pen)

Do you think its a good idea to mark my power and other expensive cards with it

as many of you know I had all my decks stolen recently this would prevent further theft

And in the case of theft I can let store owners be on the look out for these cards and I can prove they are mine

It could be a good way to prevent theft, but what happens when you sell one, and you're no longer the only person who has blacklite marked power?

I think it's an okay idea as long as you think you're never going to sell them.

I dunno if its per say smart, but that frankly is the coolest teenage magic thing ive heard of in a while.

jimmy- ok gnight.
john- dude turn the lights off and lets play!
jimmy- kk.

jimmy- agh crap I didnt use the pen on this one.
john- then its a basic land of mah choice motha fucka!

I'd say go for it. You could even mark each specific piece of power/high valued card with a specific number and letter so you know what is what.

That way in the future if you were actually looking to sell them, a simple spreadsheet can be used for anything you've gotten rid of.

Be sure though that if you do go through with this, to tell nobody about it. I'm not certain if there's a way to get blacklight pen off the cards, but I'm sure somebody who knew about it would be willing to try if they stole from you.

EDIT: Oh, and take pictures of your markings. Upload them to your computer and probably some kind of external device (hell, a cd would work here), that way if you do end up needing to prove that you owned said cards, not only do you have the spreadsheet saying the markings, you have photographic proof of what you did.

well i am getting a playset of fetches for christmas from my wife I think thats getting the first set of markings (little christmas trees LOL) Only reason I know is because she asked me if I needed them still or if I replaced them. and i am getting a revised set from my Dad and Mom I think I will just mark the duals there and maybe the tutor and sol ring don't know yet if I will sell them or not

I like that they ask me if its something I will use first. That way I know what I am getting.
