View Full Version : shouldnt announcements and reports be in different sections ?
Seriously

hi, Im kind of new, but Im not seeing why the tournament announcements and reports are in the same section. I can see how they are related, but when Im looking for announcments, Im not looking for reports or vice versa. I read them both but not at the same time. so it just seems that more effort is required to find whatever Im looking for.

I also agree. It would be much easier to find an upcoming tournament or subsequent results if the two were seperated.

Reporting often occurs in the thread in which the tournament was announced.
The Announcements threads all basically look like this:
Announcement: Date, Time, Prizes, etc
Promises to participate
Quibbling about date
Arguing about prize structure
Random other-coaster wishing they lived there
Refusal of petition to move the date
(these all occur on the first two pages or so)
Trashtalking
People backing out of attendance
(Pages three through ten or so)
Demands for tournament status
Preliminary reports
East Coast masturbatory back-patting
/end thread
More polished tournament reports appear shortly after the event. So really, Announcements and Reports often end up in the same thread.

The announcements are generally for US (and sometimes Germany?) tournaments. In my point of view I'm actually just watching this section trying to find reports, and reports are always buried down 20 threads of annuncements.
So, yeah, it would be great to have a proper section. It would be great if when someone posts a report in a deck thread or an announcement thread it would be copied/moved in that new "report" section too.

Good idea. But there is a problem that such a thread may duplicate regular thread for that deck. There can be also need for additional rules for reports of each deck, lest it ends in NQGw, NQGr, NQG5c, ten different Landstill threads, etc...
Maybe mods can lock that threads and submit the reports themselves. In this case each thread would compose of reports only (and no chat), and mods can easily take care of the quality of reprots..

Any news? I find myself looking averyday in the Tournament section looking for Reports, and find something new once every week or two. It's such a waste of time, especially since I have to recognize those Reports in between all the Announcement chaff.

There was unanimous agreement to split the forums. What we now need is an Administrator to do it. It seems we're all on a lazy / busy period right now (see also: monthly DTB update :frown:).

Yeah, I was wondering about that, but since I nagged you guys about it last time, I figured I'd let it slide now
Perhaps you need to recruit more people with nothing better to do?

Ditto. I feel like we're almost in crisis mode right now. We have plenty of staff, but we're so busy with RL.
This split is a good idea that has yet to be implemented.

Damn, if only there were members who already spent way too much time on this site anyway, with loads more free time, that would love Admin powers.
If only.

Okay, "Tournament Announcements and Reports" became "Announcements and Results" and we have a new Tournament Reports forum now. I also move a few months of reports into the new forum so it didn't look so vacant.
There you go.
If only.
So true.
Also if only some of those people didn't make half of their posts in Mishmash so we wouldn't know if some of them would think archiving the whole site Nightmare style would be fun. I only

I just want to point out that the bolded tournaments are the same (LML=Liga de Legacy de Madrid=Liga Madrileña de Legacy). Well, and Beta Winter Wonderland seems duplicated.

[And makes Survival a ATB?] What do you mean "Beta Winter Wonderland seems duplicated?"

Yes it does, however the decks were only accounted for once. Fixed.
