I didn't see that anyone had posted this here (and yes I looked in the search thingy even).

It's mostly nonsense that no one is going to care about, but there's one notable.

Gilded Drake can now be Stifled. Not great, but interesting if you use the card anyway.

I personally was way more happy with this one.

Sorrow's Path!

New Oracle text:
{T}: Choose two target blocking creatures an opponent controls. If each of those creatures could block all creatures that the other is blocking, remove both of them from combat. Each one then blocks all creatures the other was blocking.
Whenever Sorrow's Path becomes tapped, it deals 2 damage to you and each creature you control.

Yes! I can finally rebuild my old Donate deck. I used to donate or Political Trickery that shitty land to someone with a couple of Psychic Venom's on it, then tap it with Rishadan Port or Icy Manipulators, then attack with Benthic Explorers and untap it with that. Candlelabra of Tawnos was in there to untap it also.

It was a silly deck, but I was sad when they errated that card and totally destroyed my fun deck that used the worst card in the game.

I'm so putting it back together again. Hooray for line breaks!

Huh. So you can Stifle Gilded Drake's ability now, if you really want a 3/3 flyer for 1UU and 2 cards. Not sure if that's really great, but it's worth noting. Maybe in something already running Stifle for Dreadnaught? Steal their big dude or just get a 3/3 flyer if there's nothing worth stealing.

Cool, I am running Mono U Dreadstill because I am poor and I already run 2 Drakes in the SB. However, I would probably never SB them in just to Stifle them, but at least I have the option!

This ability can't be countered except by spells and abilities.

EPIC

More importantly, if you play in the NorthWest, you can Stifle Giles' Gilded Drake when he tries to take your Dreadnought.

I'm pretty sure this makes the card worse, not better. How can you counter it without spells or abilities? Give your dude Shroud in response?

Papillon

If the player sac's their own creature in response (for example), the ability won't be countered so you will have to sac your drake.

Yeah, it's there to make sure the ability can't get countered on resolution because of lack of legal targets.

Totally forgot that other people can Stifle it now, too. Wow. That really does make it a lot worse.

And now you can't save your lands from being stone-rained, which I whink was the original intent, as man-lands didn't exit at the time. They messed that one up.

Great, more like GP: Sorrow's Path amirite?

Actually it still works. I wondered the same and finally came up with what the wording meant:

New Oracle text:
{2}: Choose one — Destroy target Aura attached to a land; or the next time target land would be destroyed this turn, remove all damage from it instead.

So if the land would be destroyed by wasteland/stone rain, instead all damage will be removed. So no destroy effect takes place.

Yeah, them and their tricky wording :P

Also, I wonder how they go about doing these erratas...Honestly, most of these cards are things that people (should) never actually play with. And it seems silly too, because the erratas probably affect so little, unless you decide to do an old block constructed/draft or something.

Honestly, most of these cards are things that people (should) never actually play with.Who gets to decide which cards I should never use? What are the criteria? Why should I obey?

So if the land would be destroyed by wasteland/stone rain, instead all damage will be removed. So no destroy effect takes place.I had to read it several times before I caught that. And Mark Gottlieb continues his reign of throwing mud into a clear, still pool.

Great, more like GP: Sorrow's Path amirite? You gotta give the guy credit, Jack. He's shooting for it.

But it makes Stifle useful for one more thing.

 Because we really needed Wizards to make Stifle better.

The fact that Gilded Drake is now slightly more vulnerable makes me a sad panda. The new errata is also counter-intuitive, in my books. "Can't be countered" doesn't usually make me think of "countered by the game rules". :frown:

I agree, I always wondered why they didn't just stick with the old revised saying of calling it "Fizzled" and made that an official term instead of calling it countered. Sure, it makes Multani's Presence suck, but I don't think too many people will mind.

Sorrow's Path was such a disastrous choice to print in the first place. It was confusing as hell and the only redeeming side to it was that it was so weak that it was guaranteed never to create a controversy past the first round of a tourney.

Now it has obviously eaten up some R&D guy's time to fix, even though it will never be played in anything other than a 9 year old's first magic deck and then only because he got screwed in a lousy trade by his 12 year old brother.

BTW, the fact that they are bothering to errata it is more evidence that Banding is the mystery mechanic on the horizon. I smell humongous brainfart on WotC's part in the near future.

Try Vedalken Plotter instead.

Why does Gilded Drake say: This effect doesn't end at end of turn?

Because the swap is permanent, unlike something like Threaten or Word of Seizing.

Fuck yeah, bitches!

12 Island
4 Deserted Temple
4 Wasteland
4 Sorrow's Path
4 Rishadan Port

4 Candlelabra of Tawnos
4 Daze
4 Icy Manipulator
4 Force of Will
4 Donate
4 Stifle
4 Treachery
4 Vedalken Plotter
1 Giant Shark

Still rebuilding it, but there's so many fun things to put in nowadays. Had to include a Giant Shark cause it's a frigging shark, I mean who can beat up a shark? It's like "have an island!" "OMG Noooooo, Shark can eat me now!" I'll draw a laser on him later.

What's funny is it actually can beat some decks. Taking 2 damage and your creatures all get hit for 2 from a colorless source isn't horrid. It's actually a pain in the ass with Stifles for fetches, Wastes for anything that comes out, and tap effects for every single land that hits play. It's blue land destruction at it's best! lmao What's funny is Treachery doesn't limit you to untapping your own lands. Holy Shit combo!

Isn't something permanent unless stated otherwise?

Yes. That's why that line of text is not rules text, it's just reminder text.

Also, I'm very glad that they finally changed Gilded Drake. I was playing around with them in a casual deck about three years ago. I checked their text on Oracle and noticed to my surprise that it said that the ability could not be countered even though it doesn't say that on the card! It's very stupid to randomly decide to make abilities uncounterable when there's no hint of it on the original card.

As for changing old cards that no one uses, I'm pretty sure that that's the only reason Dreadnought decks exist. Anyone remember Flash? I'm not saying that they were good choiced, but it definately makes an important difference.

I especially like the Giant Shark. Whodda thunk that buried in all the text on that card is something worthwhile?

Outstanding

Wizards of the Coast should just kill Rule 216.1 altogether, instead of pretending they're not deliberatly trying to hinder me.

Ooooo, nice, thanks, I'll have to add a couple in.

It is after all a casual deck but it can feasibly beat the crap out of some normal legacy decks on accident.

I'll have to post it in the pimp decks thread since I actually do have a lot of those cards foiled. lol

The Shark is just for laughs honestly. It's a Shark, I mean cmon that's gotta get some cool points. Heh. Though you can always give them an island anyway.

It was originally a casual deck and will stay that way of course. One Wasteland slipping through and the fun is over till you find another Sorrow's Path. It's not that great, but it's sure amusing to play against friends.

I forgot to add in some Rainbow Vales also so you have something worthwhile to give to people. It's amusing since you get it back after stealing something.

I was going to show up to the last Grand Prix with Death and Taxes sporting 4 Shaharzad's until Flash got errated and I decided it wasn't worth going with that monstrosity around. It would have been fun though.
