Has anything been done yet with Knight of the Reliquary and Vinelasher Kudzu? I've looked but haven't seen anything here on The Source, but am intrigued by the synergies of these cards.

4x Knight of the Reliquary
4x Vinelasher Kudzu
4x Birds of Paradise

4x Ice Storm
3x Armegeddon
4x Orim's Chant
4x Oblivion Ring
4x Path to Exile
2x Sylvan Library

3x Mox Diamond
2x Crucible of Worlds

4x Savannah
4x Windswept Heath
4x Wasteland
5 Forests
5 Plains

I have this built but haven't done much testing with it. I don't have the most extravagant knowledge of Magic cards - I played from Revised through Stronghold, then stopped and just started again for Eventide/SOA. I fully expect people to point out some sweet cards that would be effective in this deck that I have no idea about. But is the concept a sound one?

This deck needs a whole lot more STP and less Orim's Chant.

-1 Crucible of Worlds
-1 Mox Diamond
-4 Ice Storm

+3 Tarmogoyf
+2 Terravore
+1 Cataclysm

I see goyf and terravore. But how much of the control aspect do you give up in exchange for aggro?

This is what I get for only playing MUC.....

you could cut your crucible completely and play a few life from the loams and a Tranquil thicket or two. Life from the loam and wasteland is pretty good.

I dont get path to exile in this deck. arent you trying to destroy his lands? Why are you giving your opponent more lands...

STP> path to exile

Cards to watch:

Flagstones of Trokair (already mention, though)
Darksteel citadel

Flagstones and Citadel work good with Geddon. With moxen, you can have 12 manasources which are immune to global LD (although Citadel doesn't work with Cataclysm).

I think sadly, Vinelasher Kudzu = not ready for prime-time. *Lord knows I have a playset as well that I got all excitedly when the card came out... but after fucking with them in several lists, I just don't foresee them being great.

Hey R,
After we talked about it today and played it a few times, something hit me: Path to Exile is a much better fit than Swords.

Not too many Legacy decks run basic lands in large numbers, and since this deck isn't too conerned with you opponent's lands, other than 'Geddon as a form of control, the most your giving your opponent is the ability to thin their deck by one card. In my book, that's better than life gain for you.

Also, I still think splashing red is a good idea. Red gives you answers to things this deck seems to struggle with, i.e. aggro strategies and early threats.

Hopefully that helps!

Ghostly Prison will lock your opponents out of attacking you after hitting their mana. It serves about the same purpose as Solitary Confinement so don't use both.

Solitary confinement has been working well, especially when combined with LftL and the Onslaught cycle lands.

I've played with both the StP and Path - The point of hte ceck actually isn't to completely control my opponen's lands, as much as to keep them in check while pumping my creatures. However, I'm seeing the need for either a mix of both to provide more than 4 ways to remove a creature or going with a 4-of and having a Wrath or something. The metagame I'm around is mostly Rock (I hate Deed), Painter/Grindstone, MUC, Dredge or a Dreadstill-type.

Keep the thoughts coming, people, it's all good stuff. Thanks.

You should definitly use 4 swords and at least 3 Terravore in this deck. Noble Hierarch belongs as well as 4 goyf. As far as spot removal goes 4x swords and 3-4 Oblivion rings is plenty. All your creatures are fat in the mid game and you should be able to smash through defenses fairly effectively . That being said I don't think knight needs to be a 4 of his casting cost is high. If I were to build from scratch the shell would look something like

Creatures
4x Tarmagoyf
4xVinelasher
4xNoble Hierarch
3x Knight
3x Terravore

Spells
3x - Life from the loam
4x Swords
3x Oblivion ring
4x Armageddon

Artifacts
4x Mox diamond

24 lands including cyclers flagstones wastelands are all musts after that theres some flexibility notable thoughts include Darksteel citadel and maze of ith off the top of my head. Oh and I hear basics are tech these days ;)

Sideboard is a tough one, Combo is tough these days but then so is counterbalance and graveyards so space is at a premium id probably go something along the lines of this for an unknown meta.

4x Tormod's crypt
4x Krosan Grip
4x Orim's chant
3x Abeyance

Leaves you with chant and ambeyance to try and stall long enough for geddon to take away lands versus combo. I wouldn't expect the combo matchup to go your way too often but its not a complete and total loss .
