i dont know if this is the right part of the forum but ok


i have a question someone is selling a underground sea with a white back.

he sais its an artist proof made by the artist.

my question is is this real? or a fake?

Ask him for photos, and check the corners. If he/she can't then it's a fake.

Probably fake. Clipped Beta CE with the back erased would be a pretty easy thing to do. Even if you catch the fake and don't trade, he can probably find someone willing to shell out the 300.

If you're suspicious -- don't trade. Also, it's not legal in tournaments, so I wouldn't trade anyway.

Cards must have a normal Magic back to be tournament legal.

The photograph leads me to believe that it's fake. It's not quite high enough quality to tell for certain, but it appears faked.

Inkjet fabrications typically give that horizontal line appearance. It might be a problem with the camera quality, but a real card will never have that striated appearance.


If you see it in person, try the water drop test and the dark light test. Also whip out a magnifying glass and check for the rings. Inkjets won't pass any of those tests. Anyway, good luck.
