Hi all,
I don't even want to throw up a list yet but I am wondering about all the ways we can tutor for painter's servant and grindstone in UR. I'm considering some type of Welder/Tezzerator/PainterGrind/Stax hybrid that runs MD Bloodmoon.
The 2 obvious ones are Tezzeret and Imperial Recruiter. I'll also throw in intuition and transmute artifact.
Generally speaking while many decks still have some type of answer for goblin lackey on the draw, a lot of decks have gone down to 4 spot removal so welder may be able to sneak back into the format.

Fabricate and Gamble are both tutors that would find either part of the combo.
Trinket Mage finds Grindstone.

Seems awful complicated. I like Tezzeret, but he's expensive, doesn't affect the board quickly, and the casting cost is problematic. I think a cleaner strategy is to run Trinket Mage and some all purpose dig like Thirst for Knowledge and Fact or Fiction (maybe Intuition?).

My idea is more of a Welder/Stacker (are you old enough to rember this deck?) with a Tezzeret or 2 in there. I'm also strongly considering Sower of Temptations to steal creatures vs. aggro.
The painter/grind would be the fast out vs. aggro. I'd have staxish disruption (spheres probably) to fight combo, and I'm not sure what to do vs. control yet.
The idea would be that every non-mana/non-tutor card I play would be a "deal with me now" like the Wildfire deck is without needing to ramp to 6 mana.
I'm looking at cards such as:
welder
chalice of the void (maybe play only 2?)
3sphere
Bloodmoon/Magus
Thirst for Knowledge
Painter/Grind...backed up by red blasts?
Gifts Ungiven (Welder, Painter,..)
Thoughtcast depending on number of artifacts
Hmm...maybe this should be more like welder trinket?

Hmm, since Imperial Recruiter also finds Trinket Mage, I wonder if it could be possible to have the combo share a deck with Aluren (which also has ways to bounce the Recruiter).
You can get away with as few as three slots to gain an extra path to victory, but Aluren decklists *are* pretty tight.

Whoops, got caught up in the "how to tutor for Painter's Servant/Grindstone proposition most efficiently" without looking really hard at the thread title. Apologies.

While this is a focused discussion on the ways to dig up the combo, there is a Painterzet discussion going on in the New and Development Forum. I by no means want to steal the thunder from that discussion so if the mods, see fit this thread can be moved in that one, or allowed to exist for a little while longer as I think we have exausted most options.

Nah, we'll just close it here. Further discussion can take place here:
